Associate in Applied Science (AAS)Offered through Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Occupations & Transportation@ Florissant ValleyStudents who enroll in this program will know how to translate general ideas of the engineer into specific, detailed plans and communicate those plans to other people in the organization. Depending on the electives chosen, students will be prepared for work in automation, facilities maintenance, production operations, quality, technical graphics or other areas of the manufacturing enterprise.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
This program provides graduates with a well-rounded education in basic manufacturing processes and progresses them through multiple manufacturing concepts to more advanced automation skills including industry 4.0 concepts. All students will experience a core curriculum focused on the foundational skills in manufacturing processes including precision measuring, blueprint reading quality control, and basic design concepts. Different pathways allow for students to learn on state-of-the-art industrial trainers and systems to match industry skills in assembly, operations, fabrication, maintenance, and automation. Onsite networks allow the building of virtual factories, buildings, and other smart components. Students will create integration scenarios, troubleshooting activities, root-cause analysis, and other real-world scenarios.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Advanced Manufacturing with a concentration in Process Technology is designed for individuals seeking employment in the process industry as a process technician. The process industry plays a significant role in U.S. businesses and our economy, serving the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, textile, chemical and petroleum processing, power production, plastic, paint, cosmetic, and other sectors.
SOLIDWORKS is used for instruction in these classes for industry-driven application.
Industry demand for highly skilled, problem-solvers continues to increase, but there is a lack of qualified employees with the high-tech, design engineering and critical thinking skills needed to fill Advanced Manufacturing positions. The Industry 4.0 certificate prepares students for these Advanced Manufacturing positions by offering them the opportunity to earn FI4.0CP Industry Certifications. To have the opportunity to earn these Certifications, students will complete illustrative labs and assignments provided by FI4.0CP certified instructors.
This program prepares welding graduates for testing and certification for local metal fabrication shops, maintenance welding and construction pipe welding.

The short-term certificate in Basic Plate Welding is designed to prepare individuals for employment in the field of welding. The program is competency based that includes both theory and hands on practical application based instruction. Instruction is provided in various processes and techniques of welding and cutting different types of materials.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
Focus is on the latest adopted Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), which is the model plumbing code adopted by the State of California, and published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). Basic math as it relates to the plumbing trade is also part of this program.
This certificate program was developed to provide training for participants to become CNC Mill and Lathe Operators using lab equipment and software consistent with industry standards.
The Welding Technology Short-Term Certificate program is designed to provide you with the specialized knowledge and skills to be prepared for entry-level employment in a variety of industries that utilize welding. An emphasis is placed on basic welding skills and the fundamental knowledge to be successful on the job.You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Welding Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
