Learn to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automated electro-mechanical, product assembly, and process control systems that use programmable controls and other methods to manage complex systems. These systems include robotic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic devices. The program will prepare students for eight duty areas aligned with National Institute of Metalworking Standards (NIMS) including: maintenance operations; mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic process, and process control systems; and maintenance piping.
An Occupational Skills Award (OSA) is the most basic sequence of courses that will prepare students for employment. Students are not able to declare an OSA as a major, or pursue one as an end goal. However, almost all OSAs are built into other certificates and/or majors, and they will be automatically awarded to students as they complete coursework in those certificates and/or majors.
This program is designed to give students the technical and interpersonal skills necessary for placement into electronics technician positions. Students gain theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with both basic and advanced electronics including circuits, controllers, and the machine to system interface.Upon completion of this program, students will be able toAnalyze, configure, troubleshoot, and assist in designing and measuring electrical and electronic circuits and systems;Read and describe the characteristics of basic circuitry and compute circuit capacity;Demonstrate wiring design and identify basic electrical components;Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits using standard and specialized test equipment;Program and troubleshoot PLC systems for basic system control;Describe how various industrial processes are coalesced using advanced PLC techniques;Demonstrate the use of electrical, electronic solid state, digital, and pneumatic transmitters in practical process control instrumentation; andEffectively communicate during problem solving and troubleshooting.
The quality assurance short-term technical certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge and applied skills necessary for an entry-level employment in a manufacturing-related business or industry as a quality inspector, production process control or gauge control technician, or quality corrective action analyst.
This program prepares students for roles as CNC tool programmers, operators, setters, as well as tool and die setters. It is suitable for career changers, high school graduates, general education diploma holders, and machining workers looking to enhance their careers.
Engineering Graphics encompasses many divergent fields of study, including Aerospace, Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, Structural, and Technical Illustrating. All of these fields focus on the ability to communicate by using a graphic language. Graphic communication is the ability to translate ideas and rough sketches into finished drawings that can be used to manufacture or assemble the desired product. These drawings are produced with the aid of specialty drawing and measuring instruments and the use of special computer programs. Students in this program learn basic drafting techniques as well as topics within the fields of Architectural and Mechanical Drafting and 3-D Modeling. Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) is an essential part of this program and is explored in depth.
This program prepares students for careers in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Typical technical titles include manufacturing and process technician, maintenance and installation/facility support technician and quality control and metrology technician. Individuals working in this industry require a solid foundation in mathematics and physical sciences as well as technical knowledge and good problem solving and teamwork skills.
program focuses on hands-on learning. The program covers mechatronics design, language and speech technology, AI applications for machine learning, and autonomous systems. You will be taught by faculty with industry experience who will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed in the growing field of robotics. When you earn your degree, you will be a highly competitive graduate prepared for positions in a variety of industries in the Seattle area, Washington State and beyond.
This certificate is designed for students with little or no drafting experience who want to work with mechanical drawings. The certificate also includes a study of engineering materials or manufacturing processes.
The Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in print reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced coursework may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
The Associate in Engineering (AE) degree is a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit. This program prepares students to transfer courses or the degree in its entirety to a four-year senior institution. The degree plan includes all required general education and prerequisite courses that are acceptable to all state-funded, Bachelor of Engineering programs. Students who follow the degree progression plan will meet the entrance requirements at all of the North Carolina public Bachelor of Science Engineering programs as a transfer student.
Completion of this program satisfies the Montana Department of Labor and Industry requirement for the educational component of the HVAC apprenticeship program. In conjunction with the required work experience, this program provides students the training necessary to work in the field of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration in residential and commercial applications.Upon completion of this program, students will be able toDifferentiate among the use of ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters, and multi-meters in testing and trouble-shooting electrical components;Summarize the functional aspects of various electromechanical control systems;Explain the fundamentals of operating a boiler;Explain the significance of heating and cooling loads;Interpret detailed instructions for electrical circuits; andExplain the concepts of a refrigerant cycle diagram and label each of the basic components.
