This all-expense paid 14-week accelerated program will provide you with the skills needed to enter a high-demand career as a CNC Machine Operator.The CNC Academy is broken down into two modules containing: Machine Shop Fundamentals, Blueprint Reading, and Principles of CNC.Students who successfully complete the program will receive their OSHA 10 Certification, HAAS Mill and Lathe Certification, and receive nine college credits upon matriculation to YCCC.

This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with a Powerplant endorsement. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Materials Science Post-Associate Certificate is designed for working technical professionals who need specific training in metallurgical technologies or laboratory practices.
The Industrial Production Technology program is designed to prepare students for entry level jobs in paper and chemical process industries.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Industrial Maintenance Technology program prepares students to install, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of industrial machinery used in manufacturing settings. Technicians may work in factories that manufacture, finish, or assemble many different types of products. This highly skilled trade offers many employment opportunities. Since each production facility has different needs, the program allows students to select technical electives specific to a particular production area.
In this program, students will complete Levels I and II ASNT competencies for six NDT methods including liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, eddy current, visual, radiography, and magnetic particle inspection. In addition, the students will have hands-on experience in both conventional and composite aerospace assembly methods which will allow them to apply NDT techniques to the aviation industry.
This program is designed to offer a clear pathway for students wanting to transfer into the bachelor's degree program in Industrial & Entrepreneurial Engineering at Western Michigan University. Upon graduating from the program at WMU, among the jobs students can consider are related to product innovation, design, and financial aspects of startup companies, as well as similar work for existing companies in various traditional industries such as hotels, banks, food, transportation, and hospitals. By declaring this Articulated Pre-Major, students are on track to graduate with an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC and transfer to WMU to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Entrepreneurial Engineering.
Print Reading for Today is intended for all personnel who need to understand the meaning of drawings / prints. Emphasis is placed on understanding multi-view relationships, symbology and conventional dimensioning and tolerancing methods. Numerous exercises involving the reading of prints will be utilized throughout. Participants are encouraged to bring their own prints for discussion.
This program introduces students to theplumbing profession and practices mathematicalcalculations required for plumbing systems.Students will read, interpret, and create drawingsof piping systems. They learn to safely assemble,install, and repair pipes and fittings, and areintroduced to installing fixtures of heating, water,and drainage systems, according to specificationsand plumbing codes. Marine Pipefitting is takenduring the 4th quarter of the course. Students willlearn to read blueprints, learn ship systems, andearn a regionally recognized Maritime OSHA 10credential. Students will obtain the skills neededto be a top competitors for careers at any of theshipyards in the region.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The Refrigeration Technologies (RT) program contains seven (7) courses. The objectiveof the RT program is to train and prepare students for entry as service and maintenancetechnicians in jobs that utilize technologies employed in the fields of air conditioning (bothheating and cooling), and refrigeration. Students completing this program should have anunderstanding of mechanical and electrical principles and will have practical exposure todiagnosing, servicing and repairing common types of problems in related equipment. Uponsuccessful completion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
