Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
This pathway is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering. Requirements vary among institutions. The following program is a composite of the requirements of the first two years of the baccalaureate degree at most four-year institutions. Students should have successfully completed a minimum of four units of high school mathematics, including trigonometry, and three units of science in biology, physics and chemistry.

This award covers topics in DC, PLC, Robotics, and Soldering. The skills taught in these classes can be used to become a technician maintaining automated systems.
The Industrial Maintenance Technology program at Advanced Technology Institute offers comprehensive, hands-on training for individuals seeking careers in maintaining and servicing industrial equipment. Over 15 months, students build core competencies in electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, drives, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC fundamentals, and programmable logic controllers. The curriculum also includes instruction in metal repair and fabrication, technical documentation, and system diagnostics. Emphasizing safety, troubleshooting, and real-world application, the program prepares graduates to enter the workforce as skilled maintenance technicians in manufacturing, utilities, and a wide range of industrial environments.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The Robotics and Automation Technology program provides an introduction to industrial robotics and explains how they are used in automated systems. The primary focus of the program is on automated processes, the role of robots within those processes and all related support equipment. Successful completer of this program will have an advanced understanding of robot operations, programming, material handling techniques and technical system components.

This career path prepares students for employment in the broad field of drafting with opportunities in both government and industry. Training emphasizes the development of computer- aided design and drafting skills. Graduates typically obtain drafting and technical illustration jobs in the architectural, civil, construction, electrical, or mechanical field.Students can earn only one General Technology degree in a single career path.

The Mechatronics Automation Technician certificate provides students with the opportunity to train in a hands-on manufacturing lab environment. Throughout the duration of their training, students will develop an advanced level of skillsets in electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles as applied to the design and operation of modern, high-speed manufacturing and assemble equipment. Completing this certificate will provide the student requisite skills necessary to troubleshoot any electronic or mechanical problems associated with in the manufacturing environment, health industry, distribution systems, machining industry, wholesale, retail, warehouse, and engineering. These skills will lead directly into a career in the field of automation, CNC/Machine maintenance & repair, and/or robotics in manufacturing companies throughout the state and nation. This program was developed in response to Connecticut manufacturers’ needs for a highly skilled workforce to match the needs of the regional industry sector partnerships around the state of Connecticut that graduates of the program are placed with. The student who completes the Mechatronics Automation Technician certificate program has a choice to pursue employment and/or to matriculate in an associate degree program. Many students work in the field while coming through this program through an apprenticeship program or fulltime employment. This allows students to apply what they have learned directly to the needs of their employer.
This course prepares students for maintenance roles in manufacturing and industrial settings. Training includes mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and basic electrical concepts, providing a foundation for careers in industrial maintenance and operations.
