Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Build a future in industrial systems technology. If you like high-tech and hands-on, this is the program for you. It's a fact; in the past five years every graduate of Industrial Systems Technology was employed in the field after completing the program.In the industrial systems program you learn how things work. You learn how to find problems, how to fix them and how to keep things running smoothly.Studies include programming, wiring, and circuitry. Hydraulics, electronics and even robots are part of the instruction at CCCC.You train with the same state-of-the-art equipment found in the real-world workplace.
Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Plan to work with your employer and the GRCC Apprenticeship Coordinator to design a program of study that aligns with your educational needs. In order to earn this certificate, you must complete a minimum of 16 of approved course work, which is typically in manufacturing and technology. This apprenticeship is aligned with the U.S. Department of Labor and may have additional requirements that must be met.
The Occupational Safety and Health Certificate was developed as a pathway for students enrolled in the Occupational Safety and Health Apprenticeship Program or for students interested in broadening their professional skills and knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health field. This certificate requires successful completion of a minimum of 43 credits as outlined.
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

The Machine Tool Technology program is designed to emphasize the concepts of manually operated and computer-driven metal cutting machinery. Instruction will include cutting principles, programming techniques, computer controls, and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool operations. In addition, the interfacing of automated equipment with computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) systems will be addressed.
This training program starts with hands-on welding classes, and the majority of classroom experience is through interactive workshop courses. It’s an exciting training program that will prepare you to jump-start your pipe welding career in less than one year.
