Launch your career in the Maritime Industry with Marine Trade Training (MTT) - Welding
The Automated Systems Technology - Mechatronics program is a field of study that focuses on the integration of mechanical, electrical (electronics), fluid power (hydraulics or pneumatics), and computer technologies to control machine movements. The new term for this is “Mechatronics.” The students’ studies begin with courses in mechanics, sensors, basic electronics, pneumatics, control logic and robot programming and control. The student goes on to learn how to program a specific Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and then writes and troubleshoots programs to control different types of industrial machines. Students will learn soldering skills, schematic diagram reading, advanced programming of PLCs, Robots, and Network systems.
The Associate of Occupational Studies in Welding Technology (AOSWT) degree, available atthe Tulsa campus only, consists of two academic years containing a total of 60 weeks and 60semester credit hours. The first academic year of this program is the Tulsa Welding School(TWS) Professional Welder program (25 semester credit hours), which prepares a graduatefor entry level positions in structural, pipe, and thin alloy and/or pipeline welding. Thesecond academic year is directed toward course material for job entry as a Welding QualityAssurance/Quality Control Inspector (WQA/QCI) containing 35 semester credit hours. Eachcourse shall be four days a week and will consist of three weeks.

Job Corps’ Machining training program teaches students skills like crafting metal and other materials into machine parts, interpreting detailed drawings or files, such as blueprints, sketches, and those for computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), setting up, operating and disassembling manual, automatic and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, and monitoring the feed and speed of machines. These skills prepare students for a career working for or manufacturing companies, plants or small machine shops. Machinists craft metal and other materials into machine parts and may work with tools operated by computer systems. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Machining training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology curriculum provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems. Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety. The diploma program covers air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, tools, and instruments. In addition, the AAS degree covers residential building codes, residential system sizing, and advanced comfort systems. Diploma graduates should be able to assist in the start-up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems. AAS degree graduates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of system selection and balance and advanced systems.
The Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies Industrial Technician - Mechanical prepares students for employment as industrial mechanical technicians or supervisors.Program Outcomes: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to:Read basic drawings & symbols.Stick weldChoose and use basic welding tools/materials.Wire basic electrical circuits & understand basic wiring symbols.Troubleshoot basic control circuits.Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical & electrical equipment.Note: Students will select a mechanical or electrical pathway.The courses are the same for the first two semesters.

This is an entry level certificate that all Applied Engineering students will proceed through prior to pursuing specific focus areas. This program will give the student a broad overview and introduction to the technologies and processes in manufacturing. Studies include, robotics, fluid power, industrial electricity and controls, welding theory, CNC (computer numerical control) theory, CAD (Computer Aided Design) and Rapid Prototyping (maker spaces). Students will learn safety, math and material science while learning about the manufacturing technologies in this program
Mechanical Engineering Technology is an exciting program that can be taken as a standalone degree program or be connected to our 2+2 MET program with UNH Manchester.Study at NCC where our professors are professionals in industry during the day and dedicated instructors in your evening classroom.
The Facilities Maintenance program prepares students for entry-level employment in the facilities maintenance career field. This program teaches the fundamental skills needed to maintain commercial and industrial buildings through classroom theory and hands-on laboratory instruction.
The Mechatronics program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of mechatronics technology.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
