Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
This program will train students in the use of Solid Works and CATIA CAD software, which will be utilized by local companies in the machine design, automotive and aerospace industries.
This program provides graduates with a well-rounded education in basic manufacturing processes and progresses them through multiple manufacturing concepts to more advanced automation skills including industry 4.0 concepts. All students will experience a core curriculum focused on the foundational skills in manufacturing processes including precision measuring, blueprint reading quality control, and basic design concepts. Different pathways allow for students to learn on state-of-the-art industrial trainers and systems to match industry skills in assembly, operations, fabrication, maintenance, and automation. Onsite networks allow the building of virtual factories, buildings, and other smart components. Students will create integration scenarios, troubleshooting activities, root-cause analysis, and other real-world scenarios.
Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Engineering uses the physical sciences and mathematics to design and develop products and systems. It uses advanced techniques to find solutions to technical problems and other complex issues facing society. This program represents the first two years of a baccalaureate engineering program. Students must transfer to a four-year college or university that has an engineering program.
This pathway is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in chemical engineering. Requirements vary among institutions. The following program is a composite of the requirements of the first two years of the baccalaureate degree at most four-year institutions. Students should have successfully completed a minimum of four units of high school mathematics, including trigonometry, and three units of science in biology, physics and chemistry.
The Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies Integrated Machining Technology prepares students to enter the workforce at high-level machinist positions and entry-level management. Students will be exposed to advanced level CNC training, CAD/CAM instruction, and inspection training in addition to coursework in dimensional metrology, advanced tooling applications, and career/personal development. Students will simultaneously complete the Career Studies Certificate in CNC Flow Cell Machining while in this program.Program Integration: 25% of courses are shared in the Precision Machining & IMT programs. Also, IMT students will simultaneously complete the CNC Flow Cell Machining CSC.Admission Requirements: In addition to general college admission requirements, students must meet the following criteria:All students must have completed MAC 223 and MAC 127 (or equivalents) with a C or higher.All students must have completed a two-year precision machining program or have equivalent work experience, which instructors will evaluate on a case-by-case basis.Program Outcomes: Graduates of this program will be able to:Act as high-performance team members and cultivate the knowledge required of mid-level machinists or entry-level managers.Apply concepts of Lean and Six Sigma.Understand basic economic principles as they apply to industry and the impact of those principles on manufacturing.Operate a wide range of high-performance machine tools including 5-axis mills, 3-axis lathes, dual spindle lathes, computer numerical control (CNC) inner diameter and outer diameter s grinders, surface grinders and electrical discharge machining.Learn ancillary processes associated with machining in a high-precision environment.
Job Corps’ Machining training program teaches students skills like crafting metal and other materials into machine parts, interpreting detailed drawings or files, such as blueprints, sketches, and those for computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), setting up, operating and disassembling manual, automatic and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, and monitoring the feed and speed of machines. These skills prepare students for a career working for or manufacturing companies, plants or small machine shops. Machinists craft metal and other materials into machine parts and may work with tools operated by computer systems. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Machining training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
