Job Corps’ Advanced Welding training program teaches students advanced skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures, including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students who complete Advanced Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Electrical and Instrumentation Technology program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of instrumentation technology.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Eastern CT Manufacturing Pipeline program was developed to address the massive need for skilled trades workers at Electric Boat and Eastern Advanced Manufacturing Alliance (EAMA) companies. These free, short-term (6-10 weeks long) training programs are available to unemployed and underemployed workers unable to attend longer-term training. The course curriculums are developed by CT State: Three Rivers campus faculty with Electric Boat and EAMA input.Courses are taught by CT State instructors at the Three Rivers Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Center, an 8,500 square foot lab located at Ella T. Grasso Technical School in Groton. Learn more about the Center here.American Job Centers staff will provide additional support services students in order to reduce barriers that may stand in the way of program completion including help with travel reimbursement, daycare assistance, and obtaining required books, tools and clothing. Additionally, a cash stipend is awarded to participants for successful completion of classroom training benchmarks.Accepted students may receive conditional offers of work from the manufacturers based on their successful completion of the program.
The Electrical Systems Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.Coursework, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, applications of the National Electric Code, and other subjects as local needs require.Upon completion, students should qualify for a variety of jobs in the electrical field as an on-the-job trainee or apprentice assisting in the layout, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
This course is tailored specifically for educators who aim to teach the next generation of CNC machinists. Building on the fundamentals of CNC operation, students will gain a strong understanding of how to instruct others in the basic operation of CNC milling machines. The primary focus will be on G-code programming, basic workholding techniques, and the Haas CNC control system, all of which are essential for effective CNC machining. Students will learn how to set up and machine components using G-code, while also developing the skills needed to teach these processes to future students. Emphasis will also be placed on understanding and interpreting mechanical blueprints, ensuring educators are prepared to guide their students toward success in CNC machining.

Despite what you might think, quality control inspection (metrology) is not the study of weather; it is the scientific study of measurement. It involves both theoretical and practical aspects of measuring. The mission of metrology is to provide accurate and reliable measurements for all types of industries, but it is especially important in precision engineering like submarine manufacturing, where products need to meet strict tolerances.We offer a caliber of education that you simply cannot get anywhere else, for less time and less money than other programs require. The curriculum builds a sturdy foundation that allows even the most novice student a platform to grow and flourish as they move from the basics of bench inspection to coordinating metrology machines. Not only is the curriculum mapped to credentials, but numerous industry survey results were also consulted to allow for the highest possibility of employment.
This course will introduce students to the subject of G&M programming as it relates to 2-axis CNC turning centers. Students will learn programming structure, tool-pathing, and canned cycles specific to the CNC lathe. Students will complete a series of shop exercises to develop skills and prove competency in the subject area.
The Electrical Controls/Mechatronics Certificate program is designed to give a student the basic skills required of an industrial controls service technician. All credits earned for this certificate apply to the AAAS Electrical Controls Engineering Technology degree.
The Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for employment as operators, molding technicians, material handlers, or mold setters in the field of injection molding. The program also provides entry level skills for employment related to the processes of extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming. Students will take a combination of lecture and laboratory courses from instructors who have experience in the plastics industry. All credits earned in this certificate program may be applied toward the Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences in Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology.
The Associate of Occupational Science in Trades Leadership with a Specialization in Industrial Maintenance Technology program at Advanced Technology Institute equips students with the practical skills and leadership training needed to launch and grow careers in industrial maintenance. Over 18 months, students gain hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems used in manufacturing, utilities, and other industrial environments.Core instruction covers motors and drives, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), metal repair and fabrication, and fluid control systems. Students also learn to interpret schematics, apply diagnostics, and perform system troubleshooting while adhering to industry safety standards.In addition to core skills training, the program builds leadership and communication capabilities essential for advancement into supervisory roles within the skilled trades.
The Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in print reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced coursework may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
