IPC-A-610 certification allows an individual to become IPC certified in the acceptability of electronic assemblies based on topics such as soldering criteria, surface mounting criteria, and jumper wire assembly requirements.
The Mechatronics AAS degree program educates students through an integrated-systems approach that includes automation, process controls, and industrial robotics used throughout industry. Designed as a multidisciplinary program that incorporates theory and hands-on experience with a focus on advanced control systems and industrial robotics. Students gain the broad skill-set necessary to maintain, repair, and manage mechanical, electrical, electronic, fluid power, and automation control systems. Emphasis is placed on the integration of these systems and working successfully as part of a team. Graduates are prepared for positions in which maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying the designs of automated systems and equipment is required. This program may be completed at the Gettysburg Campus through a combination of mixed modalities (e.g., on-campus/in-person instruction, hybrid, flex, remote instruction and/or virtual learning).
This short-term certificate in Basic Plate Welding-SMAW Fillet is designed to prepare individuals with entry-level skills in the field of welding. The program is competency based that includes both theory and hands on practical application-based instruction. Instruction is provided in various processes and techniques of welding and cutting different types of materials.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
Curriculum DescriptionThe Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in blueprint reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining, or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced course work may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with a powerplant endorsement. Graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Powerplant Technology.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. The desired outcome of the Metallurgy and Materials Science AAS Degree program is to prepare students to knowledgeably, safely, and responsibly contribute to metallurgical and material laboratory functions in engineering, manufacturing, and research and development organizations in a variety of industries. In addition, the knowledge gained could be applied in sales, purchasing, marketing, management, quality or other materials-related activities. The emphasis is on the basic theory and tools of metallurgical analysis and characterization techniques. Electives may be selected to nurture burgeoning interests in a specific area of materials science, business, basic sciences, manufacturing, or welding in preparation for further academic work or imminent employment.

Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
