The electrical industry is comprised of three branches: Generation, Transmission, and Distribution. The industry is changing and becoming more modernized as new energy technologies are developing constantly. The Energy Systems Technology program trains you for entry-level employment in the operation of conventional and renewable power plants, the transmission of power, and the delivery of power to the end user. You will work closely with top-notch faculty who bring years of experience into the classroom. Come study the latest technical and safety aspects of plant operations, and the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technology needed for working in related industrial operations. Marketable skills for this award include: building effective relationships, critical thinking, customer service, initiative, strong work ethic and discipline.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Students will learn a computer-aided software most commonly used by machine technology professionals. This course will cover creating 2D drawings and part programming using Mastercam 2024 to create CNC code for Machining Centers. For more information, 631-851-6200.(10 meetings)
The purpose of the Machining Technician Career Studies Certificate is to help entry-level employees in the precision machining related trades obtain skills with emphasis on manual lathe and mill work. Student's meeting the CSC requirements will have entry level skills in the following occupational areas: Manual Lathe Machinist, Manual Mill Machinist.
This program prepares students to fill mechanical engineering technician (or related) career fields. It also lays a foundation for students who plan on pursuing a four-year mechanical technology curriculum. The program includes topics in technical computing, mechanical analysis, manufacturing systems, and material testing. The Mechanical Engineering Technology Program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org.Prospective students should take three years of rigorous college preparatory mathematics (four are recommended), including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. One year of high school, laboratory science is required (chemistry and physics are recommended). The Computer-Aided Drafting certificate or AOS Degree may serve as preparation for this program; check with the School of STEM - Career for an advisor.

An Occupational Skills Award (OSA) is the most basic sequence of courses that will prepare students for employment. Students are not able to declare an OSA as a major, or pursue one as an end goal. However, almost all OSAs are built into other certificates and/or majors, and they will be automatically awarded to students as they complete coursework in those certificates and/or majors.
Earn your Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification through this hands-on training program, by a certified Lift Inc instructor, to operate forklifts, telehandlers, and aerial lifts safely and efficiently. This course provides OSHA-compliant instruction, covering vehicle operation, safety procedures, load handling, and maintenance. Through classroom learning and practical exercises, participants will gain the skills needed to work in warehouses, construction, logistics, and manufacturing environments.

The Basic CNC Operations certificate program prepares students for entry-level employment in the CNC machine operations career field. This program teaches the fundamental skills needed to operate and set up through classroom theory and hands-on laboratory instruction.
