This certificate prepares students for entry-level employment in the machinist operations career field. This program teaches the fundamental skills needed to operate and set up printers through classroom theory and hands-on laboratory instruction.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
This 14-week NCCER-accredited course provides foundational training for careers in structural welding, with a focus on marine and industrial applications. Students will learn safety practices related to welding and will gain skills in basic welding processes, including basic drawing elements and features in welding drawings.
The Engineering Graphics and Design Technology program provides the technical training for students to interpret and produce engineering and architectural graphics and data. Students are eligible for this certificate after completing the first three semesters of a Drafting and Design Technology AAS degree. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Electrical Technology AAS Degree prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed for employment and advancement inthe electrical field. Emphasis is placed on residential and commercial construction and maintenance applications. Curriculum coursework covers basic electrical theory, residential and commercial wiring, safety, the National Electrical Code, and blueprint reading. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratory exercises in the operation of electrical systems through fusion-splicing, mock wiring of commercial and residential systems. This program may be completed at the Harrisburg Campus through on-campus/inperson instruction.
This program is designed to prepare students for Siemens Mechatronics certification.
Mechanical engineering technologists participate in the design, development, testing and manufacturing of industrial machinery, consumer products, engines and other equipment. Virginia Peninsula’s Mechanical Engineering Technology associate of applied science program emphasizes the application of scientific and engineering principles. The curriculum is grounded in math, science and engineering principles with practical lessons in computer-aided drawing and design, composite materials, hydraulics and other technical areas.

Collision ITo kick off this phase, you will learn safe, proper use of the tools of the trade. This pathway is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in aerospace engineering. Requirements vary among institutions. The following program is a composite of the requirements of the first two years of the baccalaureate degree at most four-year institutions. Students should have successfully completed a minimum of four units of high school mathematics, including trigonometry, and three units of science in biology, physics and chemistry.
As part of the Connecticut College of Technology (COT), the Technology Studies A.S. degree provides the knowledge and skills within specific high-demand technology fields. The program consists of lecture and lab course work in engineering, technology, industrial technology, mathematics, sciences, and foundational requirements that provide a solid comprehensive background for continuation in a four-year technology degree program or entry into the workforce. Upon completion of a Technology Studies A.S. degree, students can transfer to Central CT State University or the University of Hartford to complete designated B.S. degrees.
