Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is the process of creating 3D Virtual Models of components and assemblies, and 2D drawings that fully describe the product. The Mechanical Designer, while using a wide variety of CAD software, develops/refines the product and creates drawings following standardized practices through International and company related standards. This program provides learning opportunities in multiple CAD software packages, drawing creation following ASME standards and Dimension & Tolerance per the ASME Y14.5 standard. Graduates can find entry level employment in design and engineering related activities, in the areas of transportation, aerospace, medical technology, power transmission, and defense.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Advanced Manufacturing with a concentration in Automation/Mechatronics will prepare graduates for entry-level employment in industrial automation. Concepts covered in this concentration will include a Mechatronic approach to training; programmable logic controllers (Allen Bradley and Siemens); digital fundamentals; interfacing microcomputers to electro-mechanical devices; and flexible manufacturing cells.
The Electronics Engineering Technology curriculum prepares individuals to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment, and systems such as industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, communication systems, and power electronic systems.A broad-based core of courses, including basic electricity, solid-state fundamentals, digital concepts, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and programmable logic controllers ensures the student will develop the skills necessary to perform entry-level tasks. Beyond the core courses, topics include communication systems and industrial control systems with emphasis placed on analyzing and troubleshooting electronic systems.
This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with an airframe endorsement. Graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Airframe Technology.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
This short-term certificate is designed to prepare individuals with employment skills necessary for a career in Pipe Welding. The program is competency based that includes both theory and hands on practical application based instruction. Instruction is provided in various processes and techniques of welding and cutting different types of materials.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The air conditioning technology associate degree program at MCC emphasizes practical application of HVAC systems, including solar and other green technologies. You'll work side-by-side with experts in the field, in state-of-the-art labs designed by Siemens Energy Management.Your courses will cover motors, electronics, pumps, ventilation, and refrigeration, along with applied mathematics and science. You'll also develop core skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.The program has benefits for students who are just entering the workforce, as well as current HVAC pros who seek to increase their skills and potential earning power.
Our combo II course is approved by our accrediting agency ACCSC and the state of higher ed in ND and MN. Our Combo II welding course is 640 total hrs. and 16 weeks long. The course consists of 120 hrs. of GTAW, 200 hrs. of GMAW, and 320 hrs. of SMAW. We don't take more than 15 students per instructor and our students spend 85% of their time in the shop welding.
