Drexel University's Electrical Engineering program provides the balance of technical breadth and depth to emerge as flexible and skilled engineers ready for the many options for a career in industries ranging from lasers and photonics to machine learning and bioinformatics. Students may choose from several areas of study, including electronics, power and systems control, telecommunications and digital signal processing or a general study or electrical engineering. Students pursue their personal interests and emerge prepared for the challenges facing 21st-century engineers working in a global economy.
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
An articulation agreement between The Citadel and TTC allows students to enroll at TTC with the following courses approved for transfer to The Citadel. The purpose of this agreement is to provide courses at TTC equivalent to the lower division requirements of The Citadel's BS in Mechanical Engineering to promote access to and facilitate the transfer of TTC's students into The Citadel's engineering programs.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Advanced Manufacturing with a concentration in Machine Tool Technology is a study of the process of using machine tools to manufacture useful products and parts. Students will acquire specialized knowledge and skills in many areas including mathematics, print reading, physics, measuring instruments, cutting tools, and machine tools. Graduates will have the ability to turn rough material into precision finished products and parts.
The Welding Technology curriculum provides studentswith a sound understanding of the science, technology,and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metal industry.Instruction includes consumable and non-consumableelectrode welding and cutting processes. Courses in math, blueprint reading, metallurgy, welding inspection,and destructive and non-destructive testing provides thestudent with industry-standard skills developed through classroom training and practical application.Graduates of the Welding Technology curriculum may beemployed as entry-level technicians in welding and metalworking industries. Career opportunities also exist in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, qualitycontrol, supervision, and welding-related self-employment.
The Machine Technology program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skill and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of machinist. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
This program teaches the principles of computer-aided drafting and design through a hands-on curriculum that reflects current industry standards. Students gain expertise designing in AutoCAD and Inventor software and using 3-D printing to visualize and validate designs
Learn areas of comfort cooling including basic air conditioning and heating theory; heating fundamentals and appliances; requirements and controls; circuits, thermostats; schematics, and communications. Includes hands-on instruction in brazing copper piping and fittings. Designed as the first of a two-course program.
Master the fundamentals of MIG welding with our 64-hour hands-on training program, designed to build your skills from the ground up. This course covers essential safety practices, shielding gas cylinder handling, and proper machine setup, ensuring you work efficiently and safely. You’ll gain expertise in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) across flat, horizontal, and vertical positions on carbon steel, practicing key techniques such as corner joints, bevel grooves, and V-grooves with and without backing.
