You'll discover the major pitfalls of traditional coordinate tolerancing - and how they may be overcome by using Geometric Tolerancing. Then, starting with your basic print reading knowledge, you'll learn the symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Tolerancing as prescribed in the ASME Y14.5-2009 Standard. The GD&T Hierarchy will be presented to explain the relationship between tolerances and how to most economically apply the concepts.

On route to this credential you will complete training focused on applications for multi-axis milling machines, additive manufacturing, digital work instructions.Program Outcomes: 1. Develop an awareness of the digital thread (DT), model-based engineering (MBE) and model-based definition (MBD). 2. Become familiar with technical data packages (TDP), the common file types, and the role, use and definition of derivative files.3. Plan setup and tooling path for producing part on milling machine with traditional CAD/CAM processes. 4. Plan setup and tooling path for producing part on multi-axis milling machine using automated approach with MBD.5. Define applications and uses of additive manufacturing (AM) and the seven additive manufacturing families and their use cases.6. Describe the research development and technical roadmap for additive manufacturing technology improvements for implementation with MBD.7. Use software to collect and import data directly from equipment, sensors, and apps for use in process development and process auditing.8. Describe the process of planning and authoring work instructions in a mixed reality.

The Rising Welder Certificate is an introductory welding program that enables students to obtain entry-level knowledge in Welding processes including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Blueprint reading, and a choice of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) or Introduction to Fabrication.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The Associate in Engineering (AE) degree shall be granted for a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. The degree plan includes required general education and prerequisite courses that are acceptable to all state funded Bachelor of Engineering programs. Students who follow the degree progression plan will meet the entrance requirements at all of the North Carolina public Bachelor of Science Engineering programs. Associate in Engineering graduates may then apply to any of these programs without taking additional and sometimes duplicative courses. Admission to Engineering programs is highly competitive and admission is not guaranteed.To be eligible for the transfer of credits under the AE to the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Articulation Agreement, community college graduates must obtain a grade of C or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

This program provides training in which students gain the skills, knowledge, and experience for employment in Industrial Systems Maintenance occupations. The students will acquire techniques and skills applicable to the rapidly growing field of Industrial Systems Technology.The student will have the opportunity to learn fundamental principles of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and robotic systems used in advanced manufacturing applications. Additionally, process control, instrumentation and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems and techniques are covered. Students who complete all courses listed in the curriculum will be awarded an associate in applied science degree in Industrial Systems Technology. Successful completion of the program prepares graduates for entry-level employment in a variety of industrial-related fields.

Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
