Industry demand for highly skilled, problem-solvers continues to increase, but there is a lack of qualified employees with the high-tech, design engineering and critical thinking skills needed to fill Advanced Manufacturing positions. The Industry 4.0 certificate prepares students for these Advanced Manufacturing positions by offering them the opportunity to earn FI4.0CP Industry Certifications. To have the opportunity to earn these Certifications, students will complete illustrative labs and assignments provided by FI4.0CP certified instructors.
The General Technology major allows students to select course work necessary to become multiskilled technicians. In addition to completing the college's core curriculum, students also complete course work in at least two technical areas. The following is an example of a career path available. The secondary paths may be substituted for courses in other programs' primary path. Interested students should talk with their advisors.This career path prepares students for employment in the electrical construction and maintenance electrician trades. Emphasis is placed on electrical/ electronic theory, electrical equipment (motors, transformers, motor control and drive systems, programmable controllers, etc.), wiring techniques in accordance with the National Electric Code, and troubleshooting.Students can earn only one General Technology degree in a single career path.
Program DescriptionThis program provides the student with solid knowledge and skills in the area of applied engineering. Manufacturing Engineers create and implement the manufacturing build plan in order to take engineering designs from the drawing board to product delivery. The manufacturing build plan includes defining the requirements for facilities, equipment, special machinery, tooling, materials, manpower, and processes required to produce all of the detail parts and assemblies to make the final product. Manufacturing Engineering takes a leading role in the creation, maintenance, and improvement of the processes used in the production of every manufactured product in industry today. Among the subjects covered in this program are topics related to Aeronautical Engineering.
The Welding and Fabrication Technology with Pipe program at Lincoln Tech’s Mahwah campus prepares students for entry-level welding careers through hands-on training in cutting, fabrication, and multiple welding processes such as SMAW, MIG, TIG, and FCAW. Students begin with foundational welding skills and progress to advanced techniques, including pipe welding, blueprint reading, and evaluating weld quality to meet industry standards.

Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. In 2015, Somerset Community College (SCC), recognizing the impending potential of 3D printing technology to create next-generation products and set the stage for significant leaps in innovation and advanced manufacturing applications, created the nation's first statewide, college-accredited Additive Manufacturing (AM) program. Recognized and adopted by the Kentucky Department of Education, the program involves three AM courses, DPT 100, 150, and 280, with the additional requirements of two technical elective courses and a business course focused on entrepreneurship. These courses are offered in person and online to ensure anyone can attend, regardless of location. (Additional AM courses are available to fit into the technical elective slots.)
The program, developed alongside industry professionals, focuses on AM technology not as a replacement, but as a value-added component, to conventional manufacturing industries such as welding, CNC, industrial maintenance, as well as a host of other career pathways such as Engineering, Medical Technology, and K-12 Education. Resulting graduates are job-ready, not only for their primary form of employment, but also possessing additive manufacturing mindsets and skills, allowing them to bring innovation to their future employers and businesses. The additive manufacturing skills these graduates possess include advanced manufacturing methods, materials, and their use cases, troubleshooting, safety procedures, AI utilization, topology optimization, finite element analysis, generative design, reverse engineering, cost analysis, and manufacturing optimization.
As part of the Connecticut College of Technology (COT), the Technology Studies A.S. degree provides the knowledge and skills within specific high-demand technology fields. The program consists of lecture and lab course work in engineering, technology, industrial technology, mathematics, sciences, and foundational requirements that provide a solid comprehensive background for continuation in a four-year technology degree program or entry into the workforce. Upon completion of a Technology Studies A.S. degree, students can transfer to Central CT State University or the University of Hartford to complete designated B.S. degrees.

This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with an airframe endorsement. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
