This welding technical certificate of completion recognizes the student who has completed a core group of welding courses. This collection of courses will provide the student with specialized knowledge and skills to prepare for entry-level employment and preparation to pass the American Welding Society (AWS) 3F certification. Students may enter a variety of industries that utilize gas metal arc welding. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Basic Welding Certificate, Welding Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
Community colleges and universities in Michigan have simplified the transfer process by developing Transfer Pathways. These pathways build on the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA), which makes it easier for students to transfer their general education courses taken at Schoolcraft to participating four-year schools.
The Machine Tool Technology program is designed to emphasize the concepts of manually operated and computer-driven metal cutting machinery. Instruction will include cutting principles, programming techniques, computer controls, and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool operations. In addition, the interfacing of automated equipment with computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) systems will be addressed.
Mechanical Engineering Technology involves assisting engineers in designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing machinery, products and equipment. To qualify for these positions, which command excellent salaries, job applicants should have a resume that includes an associate degree.The Greenville Technical College Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program delivers textbook knowledge and hands-on practice with the software and technology of the industry, preparing graduates to enter the field and succeed.The body of knowledge covered in the Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) examination, which is included in the certification program of the Society of Manufacturing Engineer's (SME) Manufacturing Engineering Certification Institute (MECI) may be covered.

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program will expose you to foundational engineering skills that employers are looking for. You will also learn about careers in the automotive, aerospace, or power generation industries and those focused on noise control, mechatronics, and biomedical applications.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The Engineering Graphics and Design Technology program provides the technical training for students to interpret and produce engineering and architectural graphics and data. Visualization skills are developed to design and evaluate technical content. With the use of Computer—Aided-Design 3D Solid modeling software the student will gain the skills to design and convert complex virtual CAD models into physical products. The program prepares the student for a career in engineering, manufacturing, architecture, and construction where intelligent graphics, 3D Printing, Rapid Prototyping, Additive Manufacturing Technologies, and Direct Digital Manufacturing are required throughout the design process.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The road to becoming a welding Journeyman starts with apprenticeship training. Schoolcraft College accomplishes that mission by providing training, leadership, and partnership with local trade unions in order to uphold union values and the principles of service and professionalism. Coursework will prepare students for union apprenticeship by providing instruction in fundamental welding equipment and techniques, project planning, layout, fabrication, safety and technical math. Students completing the coursework successfully will also earn American Welding Society certification in at least one welding procedure. The pre-apprenticeship certificate will help ensure that students have the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to be safe on the jobsite, competitive in the workplace and satisfied in their careers. This certificate creates an option for entry into the welding fabrication certificate and the welding joining technology associate degree.
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Job Corps’ Advanced Welding training program teaches students advanced skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures, including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students who complete Advanced Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
