These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

The Engineering Computer-Aided Drafting (ECAD) Technology program prepares graduates for positions as entry-level CAD operators in a wide range of manufacturing and engineering industries. Skills acquired from this program of study will allow students to become an integral part of product design and the manufacturing of those products. Graduates will apply specialized knowledge and skills utilizing state-of-the-art CAD software to think critically, to solve problems, and effectively communicate with colleagues and supervisors in today’s ever-changing work environment.From preliminary drawings and sketches to parametric design, to animated assemblies, graduates will learn how to simplify, enhance, and streamline the manufacturing and engineering processes utilizing CAD. Students acquire comprehensive skills in the following technical areas: fundamentals of drafting, technical drawing, process pipe drafting, processes of manufacturing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), metals fabrication drafting, and power transmission. Students’ CAD skills are developed with a comprehensive exposure to the latest software releases of AutoCAD®, Autodesk Inventor®, SolidWorks®, and Pro/Engineer®.
The Industrial Maintenance Technology curriculum provides upgrading of skills for those presently in the manufacturing field or basic skills for those who want to enter the field. The certificate is based on developing preventive and predictive skills in the following areas: print reading, applied mathematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, power trains, mechanisms, electronics, and PLCs.Credits earned may be applied toward the Electromechanical Technology (A.A.S.) degree. High school graduate reading and writing skills are expected, as development of technical reports, use of technical manuals and interpretation of codes are required in these courses. Math skills should include practical knowledge of algebra, basic trigonometry, and geometry.Courses in each level (Foundation and Core) must be completed prior to advancing to the next level. Where more than one course is offered within a level, courses may be taken in any sequence.
NCCER’s four-level IM E&I curriculum covers topics such as Fasteners and Anchors, Process Mathematics, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Controls, Process Control Loops, Instrument Calibration and Configuration, Electronic Components, Programmable Logic Controllers, and an introduction to the National Electrical Code, to name a few. Students can complete all 4 levels of IM E&I in any order
