The Electro-Mechanical Technologies (EMT) program contains nine (9) phase term courses, 38 weeks, and 36 semester credit hours. The objective of the EMT program is to train and prepare students for entry as service and maintenance technicians in jobs that utilize technologies employed in the fields of air conditioning (both heating and cooling), and refrigeration. Students completing this program should have an understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and will have practical exposure to diagnosing, servicing and repairing common types of problems in related equipment. Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.

Students in this program learn the theory and become proficient in the skills necessary to assume jobs as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration service and installation technicians. Heating and air-conditioning equipment make buildings comfortable for work, study or play. Refrigeration equipment makes it possible to safely store foods, medicines, and other items. The equipment that provides these conveniences is complex. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration technicians are skilled workers who install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating and cooling equipment. Much of the equipment with which they work is computer controlled. Technicians in this field are often employed to design, manufacture, install, sell, and service equipment that regulates interior temperatures of buildings. They often specialize in one area and may work both outdoors and indoors.

This program is designed to prepare students to maintain and repair physical structures and systems of commercial and industrial establishments.

The Electrical Technology certificate is a streamlined program that meets the state of New Hampshire educational requirements for licensure. It will prepare you to work in the field and is also a building block for the Electrical Technology degree.

The short-term certificate in Basic Plate Welding is designed to prepare individuals for employment in the field of welding. The program is competency based that includes both theory and hands on practical application based instruction. Instruction is provided in various processes and techniques of welding and cutting different types of materials.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.

As manufacturing equipment becomes more advanced and complex, trained and skilled technicians are needed. As an industrial electrician, you may perform a variety of functions related to electrical controls, equipment, and wiring in an industrial plant or worksite. Your work may involve testing, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of the electrical components. In addition, you may read and interpret blueprints and specifications, as well as remain current on electrical code specifications for the area.Building on the Industrial Electrical Technician One-Year Certificate program, this coursework will provide an introduction to the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical circuits, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other mechanical systems, making you job-ready for an entry level position as an electrical maintenance technician.
