Job Corps’ Advanced Welding training program teaches students advanced skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures, including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students who complete Advanced Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
This certificate provides the training necessary to prepare students for positions as automation technicians, mechatronics technicians or robotics technicians in an advanced manufacturing environment.

Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Machinists design and create the prototypes from which most metal and other manufactured items are made, from large heavy machinery to small hand tools. Machinists also understand the underlying systems so they can maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment. Working in a modern, fully equipped machine shop, students in this program gain the knowledge and skills needed to fabricate metal items and repair and maintain advanced industrial machinery. This high-precision trade requires development of skills in the use of hand tools, measuring instruments, testing equipment, and basic, automatic, and computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) machine tools.The program also covers welding and heat treating, as well as accident prevention, foremanship, and quality control. Students learn through theory courses and practical experience on shop assignments and maintenance projects. Freshmen work on basic projects such as tooling, and they learn to operate various machines. Juniors are involved in blueprint projects, maintenance tasks, and making items needed by the college. In the second semester, juniors choose the advanced manufacturing track or the maintenance machining track. Seniors undertake more complex design projects or maintenance assignments based on their track.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

These are traits that often characterize electronics engineering technology students.Additionally, successful electronics engineering technology students tend to be science oriented and focused on attaining their educational goals. They enjoy the hands-on projects incorporated in the CCCC Electronics Engineering Technology Program.Many employment fields are open to electronics graduates including avionics, telecommunications, medical electronics, and automated systems. Many graduates find employment as service technicians working on computer-controlled equipment.Instruction at CCCC includes numerous lab projects that can be undertaken individually or in teams. Students use their knowledge of microprocessors, digital controllers, and computers to design and build projects.CCCC's electronic laboratories are modern computer-based facilities interfaced with state-of-the-art test equipment. They support a broad-based core of classes in basic electricity and digital concepts. The instructional program places emphasis on developing the student's ability to think, analyze, and troubleshoot. Written communication skills also play an important role in the curriculum.
Electrician Technology is a one-year certificate program that teaches students to install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical devices and equipment. Students are exposed to the regulations of residential and commercial wiring and renewable energy.This program provides the 576 hours of education needed to meet the licensing requirements of the State of Maine and, upon successful completion of the program and 4,000 hours in the field of electrical installations, the State of Maine Electrician Examining Board will allow the student to sit for the journeyman electrician examination.
The 288-hour Pre-Apprentice Industrial Maintenance Training Program includes theory and hands-on skills training and introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required by electro-mechanical technicians in manufacturing and a variety of industries. Electro-mechanical technicians combine knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits.
The engineering curriculum is heavily based on mathematics and physical sciences. In the program you will have access to state-of-the-art CAD/CAM facilities and a high technology center that is at the cutting edge of new technologies, thereby enhancing your career choices and rewards. This pre-engineering preparation provides an excellent foundation for transfer to a four-year university as engineering major.
