The quality assurance short-term technical certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge and applied skills necessary for an entry-level employment in a manufacturing-related business or industry as a quality inspector, production process control or gauge control technician, or quality corrective action analyst.
Welding training aligned with submarine and maritime manufacturing workforce needs. Includes structural welding, pipe welding, fabrication, blueprint reading, and shipyard safety.
This is a 450 hour welding program that focuses on learning the fundamentals of MIG, TIG, Stick and Flux Core welding processes and metal fabrication skills. The curriculum combines a rigorous amount of hands-on learning, academic lectures, written and on-line assignments, blueprint reading, quizzes, tests, and collaborative group projects.
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Process Operation Technology program prepares graduates for entry-level process and operations positions in manufacturing, chemical, steel manufacturing, power generation, water treatment, refining fuels, and other plant-operation related industries. The program provides instruction designed to develop knowledge in the monitoring and controlling principles used in modern industry as well as the technical skills needed to apply these principles. Graduates earn the Process Operation Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree.
This program will prepare students to succeed in a precision machining environment. Students will develop the skills required to begin a career in an advanced precision manufacturing environment.Students will be exposed to machine tools including conventional lathes and milling machines, CNC milling centers and CNC slant bed lathes. The student acquires hands on experience through a series of projects. Students will also learn additional processes associated with machining in a high precision environment. After graduation, students typically seek employment as Machining Specialists, Manufacturing Technicians, or CNC Programmers.
Graduates of this GRCC Job Training program become Machine Tool/Computer Numerical Control (MT/CNC) technicians or CNC operators -- shaping metal and various materials to precise dimensions by using machine tools. These entry level positions in the tool and die and machine trades industries range from $12 to $18 per hour. MT/CNC technicians and operators plan and set up the correct sequence of machine operations by following blueprints, layouts or other instructions to write both manual and computer-generated machine programs.
Add on for Industrial Systems Technology diploma program. This certificate includes courses in principles of electricity, electrical codes, wiring, motors, controls and safety.
This certificate provides detailed knowledge of welding principles as applied to modern manufacturing processes and applications. It will provide the student with the requisite advanced skills necessary to weld in today’s technological environment. The Welding Technologies and Fabrication certificate is a practical and “hands-on” program designed to teach the technical skills required to be successful in the welding trade. This curriculum is a mix of theory and practice focusing on the four major welding processes, automation, and fabrication. The student who completes the Welding and Fabrication Technologies certificate program has a choice to pursue employment or to matriculate in an associate degree program.
