Basic Welding C.S. (Certificate of Specialization): This program includes courses in welding and provides students with basic welding skills. The total for this program are 15, covering courses like Introduction to Welding, Thermal Cutting, and Welding Inspection & Testing.
Job Corps’ Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic, Pre-Apprenticeship training program teaches students skills needed to work with large machines like inspecting, repairing and replacing defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons and gears, performing scheduled maintenance to diagnose and identify malfunctions, using computerized tools and equipment to address issues, and testing major components such as engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete an Automotive and Machine Repair training area can earn nationally recognized credentials from organizations like the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and the United Automobile Workers (UAW).

This opportunity provides individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, values, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry- level employment in the electrical, electronics, or computer fields.The associate degree and certificate programs are intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as entry-level industrial electricians, electronics technicians, or computer industry technicians. Program graduates are competent in the academic areas of communications, mathematics, computer literacy, and human relations. Technical areas include electronics circuit repair, industrial electrical wiring, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, computer system operation, and set up and repair. Reid State Technical College will accomplish program objectives by providing students with a comprehensive general education and technical training in the core area of industrial electronics. The occupational skill preparation should meet recognized skill standards. The college will ensure program quality through internal certification of graduate competencies.

The Electromechanical Engineering Technology course of study provides a comprehensive learning environment of both electronic and mechanical principles. Learning emphasis is placed upon the hands-on application and design of electromechanical systems that include analog & digital electronics, engineering design, and computer controlled mechanical systems. The curriculum is based on integrated technical and core competencies (electronics, engineering design, engineering sciences), and it emphasizes a project-based learning format. Students work in teams to learn concepts, solve problems and make discoveries in a workplace-related environment. Students use traditional, Internet resources, and industry supplied data as sources of information.
The Career Studies Certificate in Manufacturing Technician prepares students for various manufacturing jobs requiring advanced technical and operator skills as well as knowledge of modern advanced manufacturing practices.Program Outcomes: Graduates of this program will demonstrate:Knowledge of how modern manufacturers use people, technologies & materials to make highly engineered products at a competitive cost.Ability to communicate manufacturing concepts and ideas effectively.Knowledge of basic automation and how technology is used by manufacturers in a modern factory.Use of Lean Manufacturing in a manufacturing environment.Application of skills learned in social, business and work ethics required by modern manufacturing.Industry Certifications: National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC), Bennett Mechanical Score, OSHA 10, Manufacturing Specialist (MS) from Manufacturing Skills Institute.
The Additive Manufacturing Design Technology (AMDT) degree path will augment students' learning by coupling theory-based instruction with hands-on applications using current software. The AMDT path software includes, but is not limited to, SOLIDWORKS, Insight, Materialise, NetFabb, Generative Design, Geomagic Design X, GOM inspect, and AutoCad. The student will practice 3D printing techniques with hands-on a large polymer and Metal AM system. AMDT students will obtain the skills by taking classes in innovation design, formal engineering design process, advanced critical thinking, project management GD & T option, reverse engineering, 3D modeling, printing and scanning, and converting point cloud data to solids and inspections. Additive Manufacturing Design Technology will undoubtedly revolutionize manufacturing and usher in a new wave of innovation.
The welding fabrication program prepares students for employment under classifications such as welders and/or industrial fabrications. The program includes joining materials, using weldments, special techniques, equipment and other recognized fastening methods. Students acquire skills in the broad categories of welding and fabrication with added emphasis upon support technical subjects.
This course will teach the basics of Computer Numeric Control (CNC) programming for 3-axis mill applications. Students will learn to write CNC programs using G&M code, tool-pathing, canned cycles, and troubleshooting. Course content will reinforce concepts of safety, shop math, and tooling usage. Students will employ these skills in a machine shop environment.
