Robotics/Automated Systems Technologies prepare students for employment in advance manufacturing and for emerging technologies.A robotics technologist applies traditional electro-mechanical skills with knowledge of programming, controls, and networking to mechatronics concepts as related to robotic systems. Individuals in the field of robotics apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of approaches to problems, or to alternative solutions for innovations in technology leading to development of new applications and markets for robotics.
Associate in Applied Science (AAS)Offered through Science, Technology, Engineering and Math@ Florissant ValleyThe Engineering Technology Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program prepares students for entry-level positions as engineering technologists through classroom instruction, laboratory skill practice and/or work experience. Students gain hands-on knowledge in electronics, blueprint reading, measurement techniques, and prototype development.
As homes and businesses require more wiring, electricians are needed to install the necessary components. Electricians with the widest variety of skills should have the best job opportunities.
The Mechanical Engineering Technology program prepares students for employment as engineering technicians with industry, consulting engineering firms, public utilities and governmental agencies. Graduates typically obtain jobs as heating, ventilation and air conditioning technicians, machine parts and marine drafters, engineering assistants, field engineer technicians, quality control technicians, mechanical design technicians, and product development technicians.
The Applied Physical Metallurgy Certificate program provides current metallurgical practitioners with an opportunity to reinforce technical skills and acquire the academic foundation needed for professional advancement. The program is geared toward part-time students and applies the materials science construct. Composition plus processing leads to structure, properties, and performance as defined by the customer.

Job Corps’ Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic, Pre-Apprenticeship training program teaches students skills needed to work with large machines like inspecting, repairing and replacing defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons and gears, performing scheduled maintenance to diagnose and identify malfunctions, using computerized tools and equipment to address issues, and testing major components such as engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete an Automotive and Machine Repair training area can earn nationally recognized credentials from organizations like the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and the United Automobile Workers (UAW).
This program prepares the student for entry into an aviation maintenance related field by providing foundational administrative and mechanical skills with an emphasis on sheet metal structural practices.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Electrical Systems Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.Coursework, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, applications of the National Electric Code, and other subjects as local needs require.
CNC Manufacturing Technology 1-2-3 is a unique and intensive training experience that improves a manufacturing employee’s effectiveness on the shop floor. The program works simultaneously in multiple content areas in an all-in-one model. You will experience an actual production machining environment that culminates in a finished multi-component product.
