Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
This program introduces students to workplace safety, blueprint reading, precision measuring, basic conventional machining and CNC operations including set-up and programming. Students are prepared for entry-level employment in the metal- working industry.
This program prepares students for roles as CNC tool programmers, operators, setters, as well as tool and die setters. It is suitable for career changers, high school graduates, general education diploma holders, and machining workers looking to enhance their careers.
The Associate of Science in Engineering is designed to prepare students for upper-level engineering courses at a four-year college or university. The curriculum offers a firm foundation in mathematics, engineering, and natural science. Regardless of their area of specialization, engineers are required to apply principles of math and science, solve problems, create new systems, and envision new processes to meet the demands of a continually evolving global economy. Admission requirements vary by institution. Students are urged to familiarize themselves with the requirements of the college to which they intend to transfer and plan course selections with their DCC advisor.This transfer degree is designed to prepare students for upper-level engineering courses at a four-year college or university. It is part of the University of Virginia's Produced in Virginia initiative, which aims to increase the number of engineers graduated in the Commonwealth.This program is rigorous. Students must feel comfortable doing high level math and science, regardless of area of specialization. Students who are not prepared in math are encouraged to take preparatory courses first and proceed at a slower pace to increase their likelihood of success.Program Outcomes: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to:Apply engineering problem-solving methodology.Apply knowledge of math, sciences and engineering principles to engineering problems.Conduct experiments, & analyze & interpret data.Function in a team and to communicate effectively and professionally.Describe professional & ethical responsibility.

Graduates of the IMT program will be able to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment most commonly used in hi-tech manufacturing facilities while adhering to safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Advanced Manufacturing Certificate provides enhanced skills needed for employment in today's highly technical manufacturing environments. The Certificate is designed to train those new to manufacturing, but also serves to update or expand the skills of seasoned manufacturing workers with the most current technology and techniques. These classes all apply to the Advanced Manufacturing Associate of Applied Science Degree. Protective shop clothing and eye protection supplies are required for the program, and will be purchased by the student.
The Certificate of Completion in Industrial Patternmaking provides students with a practical study of the fashion industry as it relates to the creation and production of commercial patterns for apparel manufacturing. The capstone course for the Certificate of Completion is FSHD 2371, Apparel Product Development.
A Certificate of Specialization in Manufacturing Technology targets those who seek to improve their skills or who wish to obtain new skills in the area of Manufacturing. The specialize certificate requires 15 credit hours.

This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with a powerplant endorsement. Graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Powerplant Technology.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
