As experts in bringing designs from theory into reality, these professionals apply cross-disciplinary expertise to real-world problem solving and implementation.Students are immersed in a predominantly lab-based multi-disciplinary curriculum, preparing students with the ability to analyze a situation, translate theory into a solution and deliver results. Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Engineering Pre-Major is for highly motivated students who have a strong interest in science and mathematics and plan to continue their education and transfer to an Engineering program. Engineers use science and mathematics to solve complex real world problems in cost effective ways. There are many engineering fields, such as mechanical, electrical, civil, biomedical, computer, environmental, industrial, and manufacturing. By declaring this Pre-Major, students are on track to graduate with an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC and transfer to a 4-year institution to complete a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Associate in Applied Science (AAS)Offered through Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Occupations & Transportation@ Florissant ValleyStudents who enroll in this program will know how to translate general ideas of the engineer into specific, detailed plans and communicate those plans to other people in the organization. Depending on the electives chosen, students will be prepared for work in automation, facilities maintenance, production operations, quality, technical graphics or other areas of the manufacturing enterprise.

This program is for students looking to work within the exciting field of Welding Engineering Technology. Students will learn welding skills including MIG, TIG, Cutting and small machine operation related welding in addition to weld inspection techniques and processes. CNC fabrication equipment commonly associated with welding fabrication will also be introduced and utilized in projects. Students will learn about materials and their selection and processing applications. Students will be performing hands on welding and fabrication projects throughout this program to develop skills that employers are looking for and will allow students to succeed in careers in Welding Engineering Technology or if they choose to pursue further studies such as Bachelor's Degree programs in related fields.
This is a program that prepares individuals to be able to work in an entry level position in the construction and maintenance industry.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Semiconductor Cleanroom Maintenance Technician one-year technical certificate is structured to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an entry-level cleanroom maintenance technician in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. Training and education is provided in the fundamental concepts of semiconductor manufacturing, working in a cleanroom, vacuum pump application and maintenance, and introductory skills used in electronic measurement, pneumatics & hydraulics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, OSHA safety, fitness and wellness, and the use of Microsoft Windows, Office, and Teams software, The student will learn and apply principles in actual cleanroom activities while gowned up in a bunny suit. Courses taken within this 1 year certificate are stackable into degrees such as Industrial Mechanical Technician, SMART Automation, and Microelectronic Manufacturing.
