This program provides graduates with a well-rounded education in basic manufacturing processes and progresses them through multiple manufacturing concepts to more advanced automation skills including industry 4.0 concepts. All students will experience a core curriculum focused on the foundational skills in manufacturing processes including precision measuring, blueprint reading quality control, and basic design concepts.
Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, also known as TIG or Heli-Arc, is the most technically demanding process. TIG welding is a two-handed process. Utilize multiple joint designs and base metal types using the GTAW process in accordance with American Welding Society specifications.
This the second Basic Certificate that all Applied Engineering students will proceed through as they continue to build on their skills in Advanced Manufacturing. Students will learning the operation and programming basics of CNC equipment commonly used in manufacturing operations how to operate manual mills and lathes and other related CNC operator processes that manufacturing production operations need their team members to have.
The first semester path should include ADM 112, DDT 111, and one of the following: ADM 107, DDT 109, or DDT 132.
The Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for employment as operators, molding technicians, material handlers, or mold setters in the field of injection molding. The program also provides entry level skills for employment related to the processes of extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming. Students will take a combination of lecture and laboratory courses from instructors who have experience in the plastics industry. All credits earned in this certificate program may be applied toward the Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences in Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology.

The Manufacturing Foundations certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create engineering drawings using CAD systems including: Dimensions and tolerances; multiple views and projections; assemblies and bill of materials; and 3-D models. students will learn the manufacturing process, production efficiency, safety procedures, the use of precision measuring devices, and Internet of Things applications to manufacturing.

Skilled welders are in demand by large and small industries. Welding also offers the opportunity to be self-employed.Welding is a high salary and high skill profession. Industry, both nationally and locally, needs skilled welders. The federal Occupational Outlook Handbook indicates that the need for welders will grow by 15 percent over the next 10 years. The Diploma and Certificate in Welding Technology provide students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment. Career opportunities exist not only in the welding and metalworking industries, but also in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, quality control, supervision, and welding-related self-employment.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
