This program covers blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing process planning, CAD/CAM Solid Part Modeling and Numerical Control (N/C) Programming, precision machining (both manual and CNC machines) and inspection, shop math, and quality control. Knowledge is acquired and skills are developed through textbook, online curriculum, and hands-on lab assignments. Lab work includes the use of CAD/CAM software and state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment to produce machined parts from raw metal stock, according to blueprint specifications.
The Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in print reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced coursework may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
The Electrical Applications (EA) program contains seven (7) courses, 30 weeks, and 28 semester credit hours. The objective of the EA program is to train and prepare students for entry-level or trainee positions in the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry. Students completing this program should have an understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, residential and commercial wiring applications, voice, video, and data cabling systems, the application of motors, lighting, and devices that control them as well as exposure to various types of transformers. Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
This program is designed for those seeking entry-level employment in the electrical industry.
This pathway is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in computer engineering. Requirements vary among institutions. The following program is a composite of the requirements of the first two years of the baccalaureate degree at most four-year institutions. Students should have successfully completed a minimum of four units of high school mathematics, including trigonometry, and three units of science in biology, physics and chemistry.
Electrical technicians assemble, install, test, maintain and repair electrical wiring and equipment. They work in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, research and electronics, using their knowledge of blueprint reading to work on electrical systems. Electrical technicians may work in the construction, maintenance and manufacturing industries and are responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment. Electricians must understand state and local building codes like the National Electric Code and be able to read technical diagrams. Individuals who get into an electrician training program can go on to many different careers.This program focuses on broad, transferable skills, including an understanding of the electrical trade, the National Electrical Code® and more to prepare for entry-level careers in this growing field. Students are eligible for an optional externship with a local employer after successful course completion.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
This high demand industry offers careers in many areas. The purpose of the Industrial Electricity/Electronics Technology program is to provide an accessible, premium quality education. This opportunity provides individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, values, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry- level employment in the electrical, electronics, or computer fields.The associate degree and certificate programs are intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as entry-level industrial electricians, electronics technicians, or computer industry technicians. Program graduates are competent in the academic areas of communications, mathematics, computer literacy, and human relations. Technical areas include electronics circuit repair, industrial electrical wiring, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, computer system operation, and set up and repair. Reid State Technical College will accomplish program objectives by providing students with a comprehensive general education and technical training in the core area of industrial electronics. The occupational skill preparation should meet recognized skill standards. The college will ensure program quality through internal certification of graduate competencies.

Acquire all the skills offered during Digital design training at CCAT's Digital Thread Lab. On route to this credential you will complete Design training focused on CAD for MBD, CAD quality and validation, digital costing, and product lifecycle management. Program Outcomes: 1. Develop an awareness of the digital thread (DT), model-based engineering (MBE) and model-based definition (MBD). 2. Become familiar with technical data packages (TDP), the common file types, and the role, use and definition of derivative files.3. View and organize product and manufacturing information (PMI) on a 3D model.4. Apply dimensions, notes and geomtric dimensioning and tolerancing schemes to models. 5. Identify quality defects in a 3D CAD model that would negatively impact downstream model reuse.6.Generate, view and interpret CAD quality tests using advanced software viewers.7. Generate estimates of part manufacturing costs automatically with model-based definition in CAD software.8. Use PLM collaboration tools to share files and manage MBD data, Technical Data Packages, 3D Work Instructions.
The Applied Technology and Apprenticeship Department offers programs and courses that provide education and training for apprentices, craftsmen, technicians, and others who are seeking a career in a highly skilled area. Specializations are available in numerous industrial and construction trades and skilled professions. Applied Technology students might be currently employed or seeking means to career entry or upgrade. Cooperation with industry keeps programs relevant to job skills required in a competitive market. Students as well as employers are served through the many Applied Technology courses that can lead to certificates and associate degrees. Applied Technology courses begin with AT (e.g., ATWD indicates a course in Applied Technology-Welding).
