Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Students who complete Manufacturing Technology training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Certificate in Maintenance Mechanics prepares students for entry-level careers in industrial maintenance.Program Outcomes Graduates of this program will demonstrate:Competency in reading & basic drawings & symbols.Ability to stick weld & choose & use basic welding tools/materials.Wire basic electrical circuits & understand basic wiring symbols.Troubleshoot basic control circuits.Troubleshoot & repair basic mechanical & electrical equipment.
The Associate in Science (AS-T) transfer degree is designed to prepare computer and electrical engineering majors for transfer to a four-year institution with junior standing. The AS-T transfer degree will generally provide the transferring student with at least 111 credits upon entry to a four-year institution. This transfer degree will satisfy some, but not all, of the general education requirements at the receiving institution. This degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 111 credits as outlined.
This course will introduce the student to the world of tooling and tool holding as it applies to the machining process. Students will learn to select the appropriate tooling and tool holders for a wide variety of applications. Students will also learn to calculate the correct spindle speed and depth of cut for a selection of cutters and metals. Hands-on exercises will reinforce theory behind speeds, feeds, and tool selection in a machine shop environment.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
NDT is a testing and analysis technique used by industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, structure, or system for characteristic differences or welding defects and discontinuities without causing damage to the original part. NDT is also known as non-destructive examination (NDE), non-destructive inspection (NDI), and non-destructive evaluation (NDE).If you are someone who likes analyzing results and problem solving, with good vision and a willingness to learn about common NDT techniques such as ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT), this may be a great job for you. This is a program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair outboard, inboard, and inboard outboard engines; test, maintain and repair steering devices and electrical systems; repair metal, wood and fiberglass hulls and vessel components.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
Collaborative robots, or co-robots, are light, industrial robots that work alongside humans. They must be programmed and operated by technicians with specialized skills.Wake Tech has worked with an advisory board of area employers to create a certification series that will train you for local jobs. The Collaborative Robotics Certificate program offers three certificates -Technician I, Technician II and Programmer -and employers are eager to hire individuals who complete the stackable series.

Lorain County Community College now offers the first bachelor of applied science in microelectronic manufacturing in Ohio.The new bachelor of applied science in microelectronic manufacturing is an industry-tailored, hands-on program with core content in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and microelectronic manufacturing, design, assembly and prototyping with additional content in quality, electronics and drafting. Building on the associate of applied science in MEMS, the bachelor's degree program will develop your knowledge in computer science, electronics, soldering, chemistry and mechanics and teaches you to perform work on a microscopic scale.
