The process of welding uses heat to permanently bond objects together. Because of its strength, welding is used in shipbuilding, automobile manufacturing and repair, aerospace applications, building and bridge construction, and thousands of other manufacturing activities. The Welding Department at LBWCC prepares students for a broad background in welding with many diverse employment options. The program includes fundamental processes and skills, with an emphasis on students earning nationally-recognized certifications. Program graduates receive instruction in a variety of welding processes, including shielded metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding, as well as visual inspection and blueprint reading.
Advanced Welder Qualification–Pipe (120 hours) is designed to develop or improve pipe welding skills utilizing the Shielded Metal Arc or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes and prepare the welder to pass a Pipe Welding Qualification Test.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The college offers an A.A.S. degree in CNC Machining Technology. This program provides training in a broad technical background in CNC machine shop operations required for today's precision machining technicians. It covers an array of equipment and processes used to manufacture components in various industries. The program includes training in basic and advanced precision measuring tools and techniques related to quality control and inspection of completed components. Students also learn skills in G&M coding, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programming, Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD), and setup and operation of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools such as Mills, Lathes, Wire EDMs, and Water Jets.

Electronic Engineering Technology provides the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to gain employment as an engineering technician in manufacturing and industry. Skills are developed by theoretical analysis and by the use of manipulative practice in the laboratory. The program gives students a broad theoretical and practical background in analog and digital electronic circuits. Graduates of the Electronic Engineering Technology program are prepared to find employment as technicians with the ability to prototype, to test, to program, to integrate, to install, to maintain, and to repair electronic systems. Because of the use of electronics in most industries, many employment opportunities in varied environments exist. High school prerequisites for this program are Algebra I and II, and a GPA of at least 2.5
Hands-on aluminum welding training aligned with maritime manufacturing applications using GTAW and GMAW welding processes.
This course is designed for the beginning welder who has limited or no welding experience. The emphasis is on basic practical welding of steel for home or farm use. Safety will be emphasized with supervised lab practice in gas welding, cutting, and arc welding. Various welding equipment and welding techniques will be surveyed. Welding equipment and consumables are included.
