This class will introduce the participant to Swiss CNC machining: how to produce complex parts, including set-up and operation, while using brass and aluminum metals.Pre-requisite: MEC212 or previous CNC Operation experience
This program is designed for employees of Keurig Green Mountain. Students will be given specialized electrical technology training that will support production operations at Keurig-Green Mountain.
Supervisors are the manufacturing company leaders that organize the production operations to achieve production goals, improvements and targets. Students in this program will gain an understanding of production process, robotics, and quality assurance process to be able to be knowledgeable of the operations they may be responsible for leading. Students take courses in production processes with hands on labs as well as in management, human resources, project management and supervision to be knowledgeable of the many facets involved with leading a production team.
The Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in print reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced coursework may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The program produces students capable of design analysis and testing of mechanical systems. It uses prevailing industrial procedures to test current mechanical equipment used in industry.
This program is an introduction to machine shop theory, math and terminology, basic bench work, and parts layout using a variety of common measuring tools. Emphasis will be on the application of basic operation of machine tools, such as drill presses, CNC lathes, and CNC mills with common hand tools. introductory, hands-on study of programming, setup, and operation of CNC milling machine tools. Students will identify machine parts and their functions; select layout tools and techniques; define machine shop terminology; perform basic setups; calculate common shop formulas; perform semi-precision layout; demonstrate basic machine operations; and apply proper measuring tools. This course is also designed as an introduction to SolidWorks computer-aided design software. Topics include part creation, use of features, assembly modeling, drawing creation, surface features, and basic surfacing techniques. This program is also an introductory course that demonstrates the integration of Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) and Computer Aided-Manufacturing (CAM). It is a study of modern prototyping and machining methods, teaching the use of MasterCAM software. This program converts 2D and 3D CAD drawing geometry directly into tool path information that is used to drive numerically controlled turning and milling machines. Additional training includes Machining, Shop Math Level I, Shop Math Level II, Blueprint Reading with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Precision Measurement Devices, Machinist Calc Pro, Feeds and Speeds, Mill Control Interface, Mill Setup, Mill Programming, Lathe Control Interface, Mill Setup, Lathe Programming, MasterCAM Mill, MasterCAM Lathe, Advanced CNC, Dies, and Molds.
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Electrical Technology is designed to prepare students for employment in various industries as electrical/electronic technicians. Students develop the practical skills needed to calculate, install, and work with electrical machinery, machine control, and other electrically controlled devices in residential, 48 Tidewater Community College 2019–2020 Catalog | Career and Technical commercial and industrial environments. In addition, this program also provides students with a comprehensive set of skills that are needed in the electrical industry. Training options in career specialty areas include program and logic control, industrial and business management, renewable energy technologies, fiber and data cabling, and occupational safety. The degree offers students an in-depth background in electrical fundamentals through theory and hands-on instruction.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum provides a broad and diverse educational experience. Course work includes computer-aided drafting and design (using AutoCAD), solid modeling (using SolidWorks), applied mechanics, materials engineering, manufacturing methods and processes, computer usage, mathematics, physics, and oral and written communications. The courses will stress critical thinking, planning and problem-solving
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
