Our Electronic Fundamentals certificate program in Electrical/Electronic Controls trains you for above entry-level employment in an exhilarating electronics industry through concentrated classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory work. Come learn the latest industry standards in fundamental electronics, as well as the technical and safety aspects of electricity at TJC’s state-of-the-art facilities. Marketable skills for this award include: detail-oriented, problem solving, team work and technical skills. All new students are required to attend electrical/electronic controls orientation.

This course is designed to have you working in just four months.Industry professionals provide hands-on training to program, setup and operate CNC lathe and CNC milling machines.Learn how to run production machinery and check that every part you make meets customer specifications.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

This associate degree program will equip students to pursue career options ranging from electrical system technology, fiber optic installations, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), and field operation. Students will work with faculty that possess industrial experience, which is shared in the classroom. Several design projects are incorporated into every course to apply real-world as well as virtual software applications to knowledge acquired.
The Welding Technology curriculum provides students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metalworking industry.Instruction includes consumable and non-consumable electrode welding and cutting processes. Courses may include math, print reading, metallurgy, welding inspection, and destructive and non-destructive testing providing the student with industry-standard skills developed through classroom training and practical application.Graduates of the Welding Technology curriculum may be employed as entry-level technicians in the welding and metalworking industries. Career opportunities also exist in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, quality control, supervision, and welding-related self-employment.
Drafters prepare drawings based on sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers, architects, and designers. These final drawings will contain detailed views of an object, specifications for materials, and other information required to fully carry out the job. Students in this program use industry specific software to perform lab exercises such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Solid Edge, and ArcGIS. Students also have the opportunity to prototype parts with laser cutters and large format printers.The Engineering and Design program is designed for the professional development of individuals who desire to prepare themselves for employment in fields such as architecture and engineering. Students are required to participate in third party credentialing activities such as NOCTI as part of this curriculum.
The Certificate of Completion in Welding prepares individuals for careers as Commercial/Industrial AWS Certified Welders. This program provides a solid foundation in basic SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and Oxy-Fuel welding principles. Students demonstrate proficiency in single and multi-pass welding in all positions. Emphasized skills include blueprint reading, job estimation, fabrication procedures, metallurgy, and welding inspection. The capstone course for the Certificate of Completion is WLDG 2453, Advanced Pipe Welding.
The Electrical Lineworker (EL) program, available at the Dallas Metro and Jacksonville, FLcampuses only, contains six (6) courses, 15 weeks, and 16.5 semester credit hours. The ELprogram is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the field of utilitypower transmission and distribution construction, troubleshooting, and commercialelectrical maintenance and repair. The curriculum includes Climbing in Elevated WorkSite (Pole Climbing), Overhead Construction, Underground Construction, System Designand Operation, National Electric Safety Code, AC and DC Circuits, and Electric Power.Competencies in this curriculum were developed to coincide with the National standards forelectric power generation, distribution, and transmission industry as described in the UnitedStates Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Students willhave the opportunity to qualify for OSHA-10 certification
The Welding Technology Short-Term Certificate program is designed to provide you with the specialized knowledge and skills to be prepared for entry-level employment in a variety of industries that utilize welding. An emphasis is placed on basic welding skills and the fundamental knowledge to be successful on the job.You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Welding Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
If you’re interested in educational and/or career goals and objectives that are not met specifically by one of the school’s traditional majors, the Engineering Technology, BS (Contract Major) may be an option for you.This type of major is considered an individualized education plan and may involve educational experiences in more than one school or college of the University. Contracts that involve advanced or specialized courses from more than one college are considered cross-college contract programs and must have the explicit approval of both schools or colleges. You may have the opportunity to take courses within business and communications, for example.
