This program is designed to offer a clear pathway for students wanting to transfer into the bachelor's degree program in Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Western Michigan University. Upon graduating from the program at WMU, among the jobs students can consider are: Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering assistant, Manufacturing Specialist, Engineering Technician, Technical Sales, Production or Material Planner and many other technical support positions. By declaring this Articulated Pre-Major, students are on track to graduate with an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC and transfer to WMU to earn a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) certificate program is designed to qualify students in the shielded metal arc welding processes on either plate or pipe in accordance to the American Welding Society (AWS) or the American Petroleum Institute (API) welding procedures. These courses can be offered concurrently as CEU courses.

As part of the Connecticut College of Technology (COT), the Technology Studies A.S. degree provides the knowledge and skills within specific high-demand technology fields. The program consists of lecture and lab course work in engineering, technology, industrial technology, mathematics, sciences, and foundational requirements that provide a solid comprehensive background for continuation in a four-year technology degree program or entry into the workforce. Upon completion of a Technology Studies A.S. degree, students can transfer to Central CT State University or the University of Hartford to complete designated B.S. degrees.
The Electro-Mechanical Technologies (EMT) program contains nine (9) phase term courses, 38 weeks, and 36 semester credit hours. The objective of the EMT program is to train and prepare students for entry as service and maintenance technicians in jobs that utilize technologies employed in the fields of air conditioning (both heating and cooling), and refrigeration. Students completing this program should have an understanding of mechanical and electrical principles and will have practical exposure to diagnosing, servicing and repairing common types of problems in related equipment. Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) prepares students for careers in computer-aided design and building information modeling by utilizing 2D or 3D software programs such as: AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, 3DS Max, SolidWorks, Corel, Photoshop, and VideoStudio. The capstone course for the AAS Degree is DFTG 2380, Cooperative Education-Drafting and Design Technology/Technician, General I.
The entry level machining technician certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to perform as an entry-level machining technician. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Computer Aided Machining Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology -Computer Aided Machining.
The welding fabrication program prepares students for employment under classifications such as welders and/or industrial fabrications. The program includes joining materials, using weldments, special techniques, equipment and other recognized fastening methods. Students acquire skills in the broad categories of welding and fabrication with added emphasis upon support technical subjects.
The quality technician one-year technical certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge and cognitive skills required to work as quality control technicians or improvement personnel in business and industry. They may assist quality engineers and managers in basic metrology and statistical process control charting.
The General Technology major allows students to select course work necessary to become multi-skilled technicians. In addition to completing the college's core curriculum, students also complete course work in at least two technical areas. The following is an example of a career path available. The secondary paths may be substituted for courses in other programs' primary path. Interested students should talk with their advisors.This program prepares students for a broad range of employment within the industrial maintenance field. The program is designed to develop multi- skilled technicians who install, maintain and repair commercial or industrial machinery in buildings, process plants or manufacturing settings. The mechanical primary path provides a solid foundation in drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, piping systems, and machinery preventive and predictive maintenance. As part of the associate degree program students choose a secondary path in a technical field of study.
