This area of study prepares students to install and maintain electrical systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The program combines hands on training with classroom instruction that will provide the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in the growing electrical field.
This program prepares a graduate for entry-level positions in structural, pipe, and thin alloy and/or pipeline welding. Key welding processes include SMAW, MIG, TIG, High Frequency TIG, and Fluxcore. The program consists of six five-week courses for a total of 30 weeks, 25 semester credit hours, and 750 contact hours of instruction. The Professional Welder graduate acquires many skills and can branch off into various career and employment opportunities. Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
This program prepares graduates for entry-level positions that involve the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems commonly found in automated manufacturing environments. Students will be prepared to work in the operations, installation, and maintenance of automated and robotically controlled systems. Systems-level analysis, assembly, and troubleshooting techniques are stressed with hands-on laboratory experiences to complements classroom-based instruction.

Participants will learn how to apply GD&T to a variety of situations including your own parts. Sharpen your Geometric Tolerancing skills, fill in gaps, get your questions answered, make GD&T more useable, reduce product cost, improve datum selection and create robust designs. Learn how to use the GD&T Hierarchy. Advanced concepts on the application of profile and position as well as fixed and floating features will be discussed. Learn how to properly select datum features and allocate tolerances. Expand your knowledge of simultaneous requirements, composite tolerancing, profile tolerancing, robust design and boundary calculations.
This program prepares students for careers in metal fabrication and related manufacturing fields. The combination of laboratory and lecture sessions provide the theory and practical application of the metal fabrication trades. Topics of study include Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, manual machining, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), 3D solid modeling, and manufacturing processes. Students will also gain knowledge and experience in modern welding processes, including gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, as well as oxy-fuel processes and plasma cutting. Upon completion of their training, students will be prepared to test for American Welding Society and New York State Department of Transportation welding certifications.
The additive manufacturing industry is continuing to grow and is set to more than double its market value in the next 10 years. As companies strive to keep pace in this fast-growing industry, there has been an uptick in the hiring rate of applicants with foundational expertise in additive and 3D design. Featuring DPT 100 and DPT 150, which are the fundamental courses of SCCs' additive manufacturing (AM) program, this program was developed to quickly and efficiently establish the skills needed for K-12 students, college students, and business professionals to implement advanced manufacturing methods and 3D printing effectively, no matter the career path or industry. These courses are offered in person and online to ensure anyone can attend, regardless of location.
Skills developed throughout this program include advanced manufacturing methods, materials, and their use cases, troubleshooting, safety procedures, AI utilization, topology optimization, finite element analysis, generative design, reverse engineering, cost analysis, and manufacturing optimization.
This certificate is also stackable if the student wishes to continue and receive our more extensive "3D Printing Technician - Level 1" certification.
Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology curriculum provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems. Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety. The diploma program covers air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, tools, and instruments. In addition, the AAS degree covers residential building codes, residential system sizing, and advanced comfort systems. Diploma graduates should be able to assist in the start-up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems. AAS degree graduates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of system selection and balance and advanced systems.
This Career Studies Certificate curriculum builds on foundational electrical knowledge taught in the Practical Electrical Technician Career Studies Certificate and covers more advanced applied skills in the electrical and instrumentation field, including advanced electrical skills, automated design processes, introduction to industrial management, and the principles of process control.This is a stackable credential, and all courses are either requirements or electives in the Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Engineering Technology.
This certificate program is designed to equip students with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary to gain entry to the robotics field. Through a blend of classroom lecture and hands-on experience, students will learn electrical theory; how to install, program, or repair robotic controllers and related equipment; how to troubleshoot robotic systems; and how to perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components. This certificate is designed to prepare students for career success in robotics. The overall growth of the manufacturing industry and related fields will require a growing number of robotics technicians to install and maintain robotic systems and components. This program is a good fit for people who enjoy working with their hands, with an emphasis on spatial conceptualization and mechanical reasoning. Those who graduate with this certificate have a solid understanding of the machinery and equipment used in the robotics field.
This short-term certificate is designed to prepare individuals with employment skills necessary for a career in Pipe Welding. The program is competency based that includes both theory and hands on practical application-based instruction. Instruction is provided in various processes and techniques of welding and cutting different types of materials.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
