This program teaches the principles of computer-aided drafting and design through a hands-on curriculum that reflects current industry standards. Students gain expertise designing in AutoCAD and Inventor software and using 3-D printing to visualize and validate designs
At the heart of our mechanized world is the Precision Manufacturing industry requiring skilled technicians to carry out new ideas and plans in the production of all types of manufactured parts. Many of these skilled technicians can earn more than $50,000 a year.Precision Manufacturing students receive applied training in basic concepts of machine tool processes during the first year.In the second year, students will receive training in such specialized areas as production machining and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming, setup and operation.
The 288-hour Metalwork Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program includes theory as well as hands-on skills training and introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required to be a machinist in the field of advanced manufacturing. Typical jobs obtained after training: Machinist, CNC Operator, Q & A Inspector. Workers skilled in Metalwork are in high demand and Bucks County Community College has partnered with local employers to fill numerous positions. Average starting rate of $19-$22/hour with benefits!
Demand for welders is increasing in construction, manufacturing, utilities and many other industries. To meet this need and make you job-ready upon completion of your training, the program is based on occupational analyses and the needs of the maintenance and fabrication welding industries.The program is a stand-alone, two-year, full-time program that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to become a professional welding technician. As a welding technician, you'll act as a liaison between the welding engineer and the welder. You'll inspect welded joints to ensure company standards, national code requirements and customer job specifications are met. You'll also assist welding engineering personnel in development and application of new and improved welding equipment, welding techniques, procedures and practices, and specifications for heat treatingStudents who excel in the program may be qualified to take certain welding certification tests. You may also elect to participate in LCCC's Work-Based Learning program where you will spend one or two semesters working in industry. During this time, you'll earn a wage, two-to-three hours of college credit, and important work experience. If you take a calculus-based sequence of math and science courses, you may also be eligible to transfer to Ohio State University's baccalaureate degree program in welding engineering. If transferring is your goal, you should consult an academic advisor before enrolling in the Welding program.
You'll discover the major pitfalls of traditional coordinate tolerancing - and how they may be overcome by using Geometric Tolerancing. Then, starting with your basic print reading knowledge, you'll learn the symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Tolerancing as prescribed in the ASME Y14.5-2018 Standard. The GD&T Hierarchy will be presented to explain the relationship between tolerances and how to most economically apply the concepts.
The complete program includes intermediate multi-axis, intermediate CAD/CAM, and Metrology. This course is a hands-on study of programming setup and operations of 3, 4-axis milling, and intermediate CNC turning. This is an intermediate course only available to students who have obtained successful completion of CNC Machining 1. The objective of this course is to introduce turning, 3, and 4-axis programming, setup and operations, 3D tool pathing, and intermediate set ups. Students will learn the benefits of 4-axis in the manufacturing industry and understand the use of turning, 3, and 4-axis for increased proficiency and intermediate tool pathing. This program converts 2D and 3D CAD drawing geometry directly into tool path information used to drive numerically controlled milling machines. This course's objective is to provide the basics of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) set up, programming and operations. Students will learn the capabilities of the CMM, its use in the manufacturing environment, terminology, and quality assurance standards including introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Job Corps’ Advanced Manufacturing Production Technology training program teaches students advanced skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

The Mechatronics Engineering Technology Associate in Applied Science degree is for those students looking to work within industrial maintenance, the field of automation and with robotics and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controls). Students will study mechanical skills necessary for repairing, installing and modifying industrial mechatronic systems and practice these skills in the hands on labs for PLCs, robotics, mechanisms and automation. Mechatronic skills are desired by manufacturers for roles in automating and maintaining production systems. Companies are looking for employees with these skills in the automated warehouse, automotive assembly and various automated manufacturing industries. Industrial Maintenance technicians are needed in every manufacturing production facility to maintain, repair and install the equipment utilized in the production processes manufacturing companies utilize. In addition to careers in industry, students are able to continue their studies in Bachelor's degree programs if desired.
The Manufacturing Technology program is designed to develop a multi-craft technician trained to diagnose and repair a variety of problems occurring with electrical and mechanical systems found in today’s high tech manufacturing and industrial environments. Students will be trained to perform preventative and predictive maintenance on a variety of systems to include but not limited to electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical power transmission.This program is designed to prepare individuals to perform diagnostic, repair, and maintenance functions on industrial production, automation and robotics equipment. Students completing the Manufacturing Technology program will be required to participate in third party credentialing from NOCTI and OSHA. Students enrolled in the Manufacturing Technology program will also have the opportunity to apply to the East Alabama Industrial Consortium for participation in the Industrial Maintenance Internship Program.
