This high demand industry offers careers in many areas. The purpose of the Industrial Electricity/Electronics Technology program is to provide an accessible, premium quality education. This opportunity provides individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, values, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry- level employment in the electrical, electronics, or computer fields.The associate degree and certificate programs are intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as entry-level industrial electricians, electronics technicians, or computer industry technicians. Program graduates are competent in the academic areas of communications, mathematics, computer literacy, and human relations. Technical areas include electronics circuit repair, industrial electrical wiring, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, computer system operation, and set up and repair. Reid State Technical College will accomplish program objectives by providing students with a comprehensive general education and technical training in the core area of industrial electronics. The occupational skill preparation should meet recognized skill standards. The college will ensure program quality through internal certification of graduate competencies.

As manufacturing equipment becomes more advanced and complex, trained and skilled technicians are needed. As an industrial electrician, you may perform a variety of functions related to electrical controls, equipment, and wiring in an industrial plant or worksite. Your work may involve testing, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of the electrical components. In addition, you may read and interpret blueprints and specifications, as well as remain current on electrical code specifications for the area.The Industrial Electrical Technician Short-Term Certificate program will provide an introduction to the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical circuits, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other mechanical systems. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Industrial Electrical Technician One-Year Certificate or the Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology -Industrial Electrical Technician.
The Machine Tool Technology program is designed to emphasize the concepts of manually operated and computer-driven metal cutting machinery. Instruction will include cutting principles, programming techniques, computer controls, and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tool operations. In addition, the interfacing of automated equipment with computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) systems will be addressed.
In Pima's program, you will learn how to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electric-power wiring; and DC and AC motors, controls and electrical distribution panels. You also will learn about the principles of electronics and electrical systems, wiring, power transmission, safety, industrial and household appliances, job estimation, electrical testing and inspection, and applicable codes and standards.
Students learn basic engineering standards and design concepts, machining and fabrication processes, knowledge of materials, and measurements and mathematics as they relate to the design process.
This certificate provides training in Mechatronics. Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field that includes a combination of mechanical systems, robotics, electronics, telecommunications, digital processing, and digital controls. Using both instructional techniques and hands-on practice with state-of-the-art equipment, the student will receive a comprehensive and expansive education in an ever-growing career field. The successful graduate may apply their knowledge and skills in a variety of fields such as engineering, design, manufacturing, machining, troubleshooting and repair of automated equipment. The student who completes the Robotics and Mechatronics Technician certificate program has a choice to pursue employment or to matriculate in an associate degree program.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
The Technical Studies degree program is designed to provide recognition for work and life experience while assisting individuals in their preparation for career advancement or change. This program is designed to provide skills for personal, professional and community improvement. The program is highly individualized and flexible. As many as 20 credits may be awarded for work and life experience including military experience, trade/proprietary school preparation, apprenticeship programs, structured on-the-job training and the like. Graduates will be awarded the associate in applied science degree upon successful completion of this program. Technical Studies has been designed as a first-degree program and therefore cannot be pursued as a second degree at DCCC.

As an industrial mechanic, you may install, test, maintain, and repair mechanical systems such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment. Your job will be to keep the manufacturing equipment running smoothly in order to ensure continuous operations.The Industrial Mechanical Technician One-Year Certificate program builds on the related short-term certificate program and will provide an introduction to the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience with industrial electrical components, welding technologies, and other mechanical systems. You may work as an entry-level mechanical maintenance technician or choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to an Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology -Industrial Mechanical Technician.
