It's a fact; in the past five years every graduate of Industrial Systems Technology was employed in the field after completing the program.In the industrial systems program you learn how things work. You learn how to find problems, how to fix them and how to keep things running smoothly.Studies include programming, wiring, and circuitry. Hydraulics, electronics and even robots are part of the instruction at CCCC.You train with the same state-of-the-art equipment found in the real-world workplace.
The Industrial Systems Technology curriculum is designed to prepare or upgrade individuals to safely service, maintain, repair, or install equipment. Instruction includes theory and skill training needed for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing industrial systems.Students will learn multi-craft technical skills in print reading, mechanical systems maintenance, electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, machining or fabrication, and includes various diagnostic and repair procedures. Practical application in these industrial systems will be emphasized and additional advanced coursework may be offered.Upon completion of this curriculum, graduates should be able to individually, or with a team, safely install, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial process and support equipment. Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills as life-long learners.
The Right Skills Now program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to perform as an entry-level CNC technician. Lorain County Community College has articulation agreements with colleges and universities including programs offered by LCCC's University Partnership.
The purpose of the Welding Technology program is to provide accessible, quality educational opportunities that will provide individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry-level employment in the welding profession.The diploma and certificates programs are intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as entry-level structural and / or pipe welders. Program graduates are to be competent in the academic areas of communications, mathematics, computer literacy, and human relations and in the technical areas of cutting processes, blueprint reading, SMAW and GMAW structural welding and SMAW and GTAW pipe welding to AWS standards.Reid State Technical College will accomplish program objectives by providing students with a comprehensive general education and technical training in the core area of Welding Technology.

The program prepares graduates to work in an engineering environment and to assist with the design, development, testing, programming, installation, and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems.
The Industrial Controls: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Certificate of Achievement is a course of study designed to quickly train new learners and/or incumbent electrical mechanics in the skills necessary to troubleshoot and program the PLCs used in batch and/or discrete automation. A PLC is a real-time industrially-hardened computer running a specialized Operating System which is typically programmed via the Relay Ladder Logic (RLL) programming language. PLCs are used to control high-speed factory automation equipment and manufacturing processes used in packaging, sorting, chemical processing, amusement parks, textiles, animatronics, conveyor belts, mining, petrochemical, and other manufacturing enterprises to name a few.The PLC certificate includes courses that will investigate both discrete and analog sensors, pneumatic directional control valves, AC and DC motors, and single-phase and three-phase power. The PLC used will be the Allen Bradley SLC 500 and the CompactLogix 5000-scale processor running RSLogix and Studio 5000 software. No special skills are required, however prior industrial electrical experience will prove beneficial to the student.
The CAD Operator Short Term Certificate (STC) Program prepares students to work as computer-aided drafters/designers in industry and to upgrade the skills of individuals presently employed as drafters in a relatively short academic period by including only CADD and supporting courses. Course work completed in the CAD certificate program is fully applicable to the Engineering Graphics Associate of Applied Science degree. This certificate option prepares students for entry-level positions as AutoCAD operators, technicians, and detailers.
The Diploma in Welding is designed to build upon the Certificate in Welding and provide students with additional skills in advanced welding, robotic welding, NC plasma cutting, weld testing procedures and codes, and layout of fabrication skills.Program Outcomes: Graduates will be able to:Be prepared to obtain AWS certifications.Program and complete welds using robotic welding processes.Complete welding projects using available hydraulic metal shaping equipment.Use industry purchasing & billing practices.Prepare welded coupons and visual and destructive test for quality.Examine basic welding codes and their effect on quality control.
This program will prepare students to succeed in a precision machining environment. Students will develop the skills required to begin a career in an advanced precision manufacturing environment.Students will be exposed to machine tools including conventional lathes and milling machines, CNC milling centers and CNC slant bed lathes. The student acquires hands on experience through a series of projects. Students will also learn additional processes associated with machining in a high precision environment. After graduation, students typically seek employment as Machining Specialists, Manufacturing Technicians, or CNC Programmers.
This degree is designed as a cooperative education program with Newport News Shipbuilding and is in conjunction with its formal apprenticeship program. Through this program, shipyard employees are provided the opportunity to complete an associate in applied science degree.
The Electro-Mechanical Technologies (EMT) program contains nine (9) phase termcourses, 38 weeks, and 36 semester credit hours. The objective of the EMT program is totrain and prepare students for entry as service and maintenance technicians in jobs thatutilize technologies employed in the fields of air conditioning (both heating and cooling),and refrigeration. Students completing this program should have an understandingof mechanical and electrical principles and will have practical exposure to diagnosing,servicing and repairing common types of problems in related equipment. Upon successfulcompletion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
