Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The Advanced Manufacturing Skills Certificate introduces learners to foundational skills and techniques in manufacturing. It provides the basic skills needed for employment in today's highly technical manufacturing environments. These classes all apply to the Advanced Manufacturing Certificate and Associate of Applied Science Degree. Protective shop clothing and eye protection supplies are required for the program, and will be purchased by the student.

The Certificate in Maintenance Mechanics prepares students for entry-level careers in industrial maintenance.Program Outcomes Graduates of this program will demonstrate:Competency in reading & basic drawings & symbols.Ability to stick weld & choose & use basic welding tools/materials.Wire basic electrical circuits & understand basic wiring symbols.Troubleshoot basic control circuits.Troubleshoot & repair basic mechanical & electrical equipment.

The curriculum builds a sturdy foundation that allows even the most novice student a platform to grow and flourish as they move from the basics of bench inspection to coordinating metrology machines. Not only is the curriculum mapped to credentials, but numerous industry survey results were also consulted to allow for the highest possibility of employment.
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Industrial Maintenance Option is a comprehensive program that aims to provide future technicians with the tools and knowledge needed for success in the maintenance field. The program helps students build a solid foundation in electrical principles; AC & DC motors and controls; robotics; schematic diagrams; electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance; blueprint reading; hydraulic and pneumatic systems; mechanical theory; Programmable Logic Controllers; and automation. Students are prepared to take the Fluid Power Certification and the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) Exams. The capstone course for the AAS Degree is INMT 2280, Cooperative Education-Manufacturing Technology/Technician.

Employment opportunities include field service representative, factory service representative, maintenance technician, automation repair technician, robotics technician, or maintenance supervisor.This credits earned in this program can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science in Automation Engineering Technologies with a major in Systems Specialist or Maintenance/Repair.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Mechanical Engineering Technology is a great fit for students who want to take a hands-on approach to mechanical engineering. Mechanical Engineering Technologists participate in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of industrial machinery, consumer products, engines, and other equipment. Virginia Peninsula’s Mechanical Engineering Technology associate of applied science program emphasizes the application of scientific and engineering principles. The curriculum is grounded in math, science, and engineering principles with practical lessons in computer-aided drawing and design, composite materials, hydraulics, and other technical areas.
