This 12-week accelerated training program is a full-time commitment designed to help support the need for welders in the submarine shipbuilding supply chain.Submarine shipbuilding programs are vital to U.S. defense and national strategy. The submarine shipbuilding prime contractors and their suppliers perform a critical range of unique functions that require specific, well-developed skills in their workforce. The anticipated demand for submarine production and the current shape and demographics of the workforce indicates a shortage of workers with appropriate skills. Some of the country’s most significant Defense resources are based in New England, as are many supply chain companies and support the defense economy.Throughout New England, as of 2022, there are currently 406,523 jobs supported in the defense sector, a total of $40.3B in income in this sector and an annual economic output of $119.1B – all in the New England area. Welding is a key skill needed as part of this pipeline of work.

The accelerated Welding Program at Bucks County Community College gives you hands-on experience at our state-of-the-art facility in Bristol, PA. Offering introductory, intermediate and advanced sections, you can take one or all three levels. The curriculum is aligned with American Welding Society (AWS).
The mechatronics technology program focuses on the integration of mechanical, electrical (electronics), fluid power (hydraulics or pneumatics), and computer technologies to control machine movements. The students' studies begin with courses in mechanics, sensors, basic electronics, pneumatics, control logic, and robot programming and control.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

ATI's Associate of Occupational Science in Trades Leadership with a Specialization in Maritime Welding Technology program prepares students for advanced roles in the welding and fabrication industry, with a strong foundation in both technical skill and leadership development. Over 18 months, students receive comprehensive, hands-on training in structural and pipe welding using a variety of processes and techniques on steel and aluminum materials. Instruction includes blueprint reading, safety practices, and opportunities to earn American Welding Society (AWS) certifications, including up to the 6G pipe position.In addition to core welding instruction, students complete leadership-focused coursework designed to build communication, critical thinking, and supervisory skills relevant to the skilled trades. These courses enhance a graduate’s ability to lead teams, manage workflow, and contribute to operational efficiency.
You’ll have classes in numerical controls, machine shop practices, orientation to engineering and technologies, and introduction to computer-aided manufacturing. In addition, you can learn in the field with a three-credit cooperative education internship during your final semester.
An increasing variety of automotive parts, household goods, sports equipment, furniture, toys, and machinery parts are formed from plastic, and the plastics forming industry continues to grow nationally and locally. There are many plastics processing plants in Western Michigan that need trained people. These manufacturers and the Western Michigan Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers have indicated that excellent employment opportunities exist in plastics manufacturing and that trained workers are in short supply. The Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology program prepares people for jobs as laboratory technicians, mold designers, production supervisors, mold technicians, and plastics machinery maintenance technicians for the rapidly growing local plastics forming industry. Injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and many secondary processes are studied in the program. Since injection molding is the most prevalent of these processes, it is emphasized.
You'll discover the major pitfalls of traditional coordinate tolerancing - and how they may be overcome by using Geometric Tolerancing. Then, starting with your basic print reading knowledge, you'll learn the symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Tolerancing as prescribed in the ASME Y14.5-2009 Standard. The GD&T Hierarchy will be presented to explain the relationship between tolerances and how to most economically apply the concepts.

Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
