This program is designed to provide students basic skills in the field of general industrial maintenance and repair. The student will develop skills through theory and a hands-on approach to learning.

Our advanced level certificate will build on your current foundation and provide you with new skills to further your career. Our professors will teach you how to help plan and install residential air conditioning and commercial refrigeration systems. The HART industry is constantly shifting due to rapid changes in technology. The need for extremely skilled, knowledgeable technicians who can adjust to these changes is on the rise, and there’s no better place for you to get the highly specialized education you’ll need than TJC. Learn to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service and maintain the operating condition of heating systems. You will also learn about diagnostic techniques and the use of testing equipment; the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, AC and refrigeration systems. The certificate takes two years to complete, and classes may be applied toward the HVAC degree.
As part of the Connecticut College of Technology (COT), the Technology Studies A.S. degree provides the knowledge and skills within specific high-demand technology fields. The program consists of lecture and lab course work in engineering, technology, industrial technology, mathematics, sciences, and foundational requirements that provide a solid comprehensive background for continuation in a four-year technology degree program or entry into the workforce. Upon completion of a Technology Studies A.S. degree, students can transfer to Central CT State University or the University of Hartford to complete designated B.S. degrees.
The Electrical Technology AAS Degree prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed for employment and advancement inthe electrical field. Emphasis is placed on residential and commercial construction and maintenance applications. Curriculum coursework covers basic electrical theory, residential and commercial wiring, safety, the National Electrical Code, and blueprint reading. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratory exercises in the operation of electrical systems through fusion-splicing, mock wiring of commercial and residential systems. This program may be completed at the Harrisburg Campus through on-campus/inperson instruction.
The Basic CNC Operations certificate program prepares students for entry-level employment in the CNC machine operations career field. This program teaches the fundamental skills needed to operate and set up through classroom theory and hands-on laboratory instruction.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Job Corps’ Electrical training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. These skills prepare students for jobs as electricians across industries, including in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industries. Students who complete the Electrical training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certifications in construction health and safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
