An Occupational Skills Award (OSA) is the most basic sequence of courses that will prepare students for employment. Students are not able to declare an OSA as a major, or pursue one as an end goal. However, almost all OSAs are built into other certificates and/or majors, and they will be automatically awarded to students as they complete coursework in those certificates and/or majors.
Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Learn the shielded metal arc welding skills and processes used in construction or other field welding applications.
Welding is an integral part of various world-wide industries including advanced manufacturing, petroleum, aerospace, automation, and the medical field. Students at GRCC learn many different welding processes including oxy/fuel, shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc (TIG), robotic automation, gas metal arc (MIG), and pipe welding. These skills qualify students for a wide variety of welding jobs in manufacturing, automation, construction, inspection and maintenance industries. All of the credits earned in the Welding Skills Certificate program and the Welding Certificate apply to this program.
Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Industry demand for highly skilled problem-solvers continues to increase, but there is a lack of qualified employees with the high-tech, design engineering and critical thinking skills needed to fill Advanced Manufacturing positions. The Industry 4.0 certificate prepares students for these Advanced Manufacturing positions by offering them the opportunity to earn FI4.0CP Industry Certifications. To have the opportunity to earn these Certifications, students will complete illustrative labs and assignments provided by FI4.0CP certified instructors.FI4.0CP - Festo Industry 4.0 Certification Program
Students in this program are prepared for careers in industrial drafting and design of industrial components. Companies that manufacture physical products and that have production process equipment need their products, facilities and equipment drawn, detailed and designed prior to their manufacture or installation. Students gain an overview of manufacturing processes through hands on lab classes in CNC machining, welding and electrical controls as well as Computer Aided design program training and conversion of 3D designs into CNC programs and rapid prototyping of designs.
This program is designed for employees of Keurig Green Mountain. Students will be given specialized electrical technology training that will support production operations at Keurig-Green Mountain.
The General Technology major allows students to select course work necessary to become multi-skilled technicians. In addition to completing the college's core curriculum, students also complete course work in at least two technical areas. The following is an example of a career path available. The secondary paths may be substituted for courses in other programs' primary path. Interested students should talk with their advisors.This program prepares students for a broad range of employment within the industrial maintenance field. The program is designed to develop multi- skilled technicians who install, maintain and repair commercial or industrial machinery in buildings, process plants or manufacturing settings. The mechanical primary path provides a solid foundation in drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, piping systems, and machinery preventive and predictive maintenance. As part of the associate degree program students choose a secondary path in a technical field of study. Prepare for careers in manufacturing support or industrial technical maintenance.Receive training in areas such as industrial safety, mechanical drive, fluid power, robotics, and electrical control systems.Learn the fundamental concepts that underpin these systems, including installation and troubleshooting.After completing the program, you'll be ready for entry-level positions as industrial maintenance technicians (IMTec).
This certificate is designed to offer employability skills for the industrial environment and prepare the student for various entry-level positions at industrial and manufacturing work sites. Topics such as safety, communication, problem solving and computer use are introduced.
