The Welding Technology Short-Term Certificate program is designed to provide you with the specialized knowledge and skills to be prepared for entry-level employment in a variety of industries that utilize welding. An emphasis is placed on basic welding skills and the fundamental knowledge to be successful on the job.You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Welding Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
The Applied Technology and Apprenticeship Department offers programs and courses that provide education and training for apprentices, craftsmen, technicians, and others who are seeking a career in a highly skilled area. Specializations are available in numerous industrial and construction trades and skilled professions. Applied Technology students might be currently employed or seeking means to career entry or upgrade. Cooperation with industry keeps programs relevant to job skills required in a competitive market. Students as well as employers are served through the many Applied Technology courses that can lead to certificates and associate degrees. Applied Technology courses begin with AT (e.g., ATWD indicates a course in Applied Technology-Welding).
The associate in applied science degree in Machine Tool Technology emphasizes the advanced manufacturing technologies. Students are prepared to work in precision tooling, machining and manufacturing. Graduates could qualify for positions as machine tool operators; machinists; Computerized Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinists and programmers; Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) operator/programmers; computer-aided drafting/design and computer-aided machining/manufacturing (CAD-CAM) programmers, toolmakers, mold makers and inspectors.
Print Reading for Today is intended for all personnel who need to understand the meaning of drawings / prints. Emphasis is placed on understanding multi-view relationships, symbology and conventional dimensioning and tolerancing methods. Numerous exercises involving the reading of prints will be utilized throughout. Participants are encouraged to bring their own prints for discussion.
Electro-Mechanical Technologies program is designed to prepare students for employment as electro-mechanical technicians who assemble, install, troubleshoot and/or repair mechanical, electrical and fluid power systems. The program includes instruction in industrial robotics, electrical controls and programmable controllers, manufacturing and operational testing, as well as system analysis and maintenance procedures.
The first semester path should include ADM 112, DDT 111, and one of the following: ADM 107, DDT 109, or DDT 132.
The Skilled Trades Program is designed to serve individuals who have a background or interest in pursuing a skilled trade such as automotive, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, carpentry and welding and who desire to advance their career, through continued education, into a supervisory or management role. The program provides for up to 30 credits to be awarded toward the Associate in Applied Science Degree for a trade or technical certificate completed at the college and may include equivalent work or training experiences assessed as Credit for Prior Learning. The curriculum includes general education courses that will strengthen communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills essential to career advancement.
The Technical Studies degree program recognizes that learning can occur in a variety of forums and that this learning may be equivalent to college-level instruction. After assessment of the certified union apprenticeship, corporate, industrial or military training program, the faculty assessor will determine the number of technical credits to be awarded. The remaining program includes the College’s general education requirements, advanced technical credits and career related electives (technical concentration).

The Electrical Systems Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.Coursework, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, applications of the National Electric Code, and other subjects as local needs require.Upon completion, students should qualify for a variety of jobs in the electrical field as an on-the-job trainee or apprentice assisting in the layout, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
This all-expense paid 14-week accelerated program will provide you with the skills needed to enter a high-demand career as a CNC Machine Operator.The CNC Academy is broken down into two modules containing: Machine Shop Fundamentals, Blueprint Reading, and Principles of CNC.Students who successfully complete the program will receive their OSHA 10 Certification, HAAS Mill and Lathe Certification, and receive nine college credits upon matriculation to YCCC.
Participants will learn how to apply GD&T to a variety of situations including your own parts. Sharpen your Geometric Tolerancing skills, fill in gaps, get your questions answered, make GD&T more useable, reduce product cost, improve datum selection and create robust designs. Learn how to use the GD&T Hierarchy. Advanced concepts on the application of profile and position as well as fixed and floating features will be discussed. Learn how to properly select datum features and allocate tolerances. Expand your knowledge of simultaneous requirements, composite tolerancing, profile tolerancing, robust design and boundary calculations.
