The Electronics Technology curriculum provides upgrading of skills for those presently in the electronics and computer related fields or provides basic skills for those who want to enter these fields. The certificate is based on the skills required of an electronics technician including soldering, application of electronic measuring equipment (e.g., oscilloscope and multimeter), electronic circuit simulation software, DC/AC circuit principles, computer aided design software, analog devices, and digital devices. In addition, the students will learn basic troubleshooting skills applied to electronic systems. Students are encouraged to pursue Certified Electronics Technician certification upon completion of this program. High school graduate reading and writing skills are expected, as development of technical reports and use of technical manuals are required in these courses. Math skills should include practical knowledge of algebra, basic trigonometry and geometry.Credits earned may be applied toward the Electrical Engineering Technology (A.A.S.) degree.Courses in each level (Foundation and Core) must be completed prior to advancing to the next level. Where more than one course is offered within a level, courses may be taken in any sequence.
The Forklift Operation and Safety Certificate Program prepares students to become safe and effective forklift operators. Upon completion of the program, students will have working knowledge of the basic use of lift trucks, as well as the ability to safely inspect and operate lift trucks. The curriculum includes theory and practical training.

Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
This program is designed for those seeking employment in HVAC field. Learn to repair, maintain, and service HVAC systems by supervising and assigning work according to building codes and standards.
Do you want to learn a critical industry skill that offers an interesting career with high pay?Welding is the process of uniting or fusing metals or thermoplastics by applying intense heat. Skilled welders are in demand by large and small industries. Welding also offers the opportunity to be self-employed.Welding is a high salary and high skill profession. Industry, both nationally and locally, needs skilled welders. The federal Occupational Outlook Handbook indicates that the need for welders will grow by 15 percent over the next 10 years. The Diploma and Certificate in Welding Technology provide students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment. Career opportunities exist not only in the welding and metalworking industries, but also in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, quality control, supervision, and welding-related self-employment.
The Machine Technology program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skill and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of machinist. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Climate Control Technology program is designed to prepare students for a career in the fields of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration.

Job Corps’ OTP Advanced Manufacturing training program connects Job Corps students with other local training providers like technical or community colleges, trade schools or employers to provide specialized education and training services. Students learn skills like reading and understanding schematics and blueprints, positioning or aligning components and parts either manually or with hoists, using hand tools or machines to assemble parts, conducting quality control checks, and describing the commonalities and differences of the alternating current and direct current (AC/DC) systems (e.g., wire color codes in both). These skills prepare students for a career in manufacturing, production engineering and machine shops. Students who complete Advanced Manufacturing training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
This certificate will provide students the opportunity to develop high-level drafting skills utilizing computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create technical drawings, sketches, designs, and notes from mechanical engineers and factory operators that meet the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and International Standards Institute (ISO) standards. Students will learn about the materials and techniques necessary to design and produce prototypes using additive manufacturing and become certified in industry standard software, including AutoCAD and Solidworks.
This program offers training in welding skills including MIG, TIG, metal cutting techniques, and small machine operation related to welding. It also covers weld blueprint reading and related processes, as well as CNC fabrication equipment associated with welding fabrication. Hands-on welding and project completion are integral parts of this program.
