The Mechatronics program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of mechatronics.This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.

Job Corps’ Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills like how to apply paint, stain and coatings to walls and ceilings, buildings, bridges or other items such as cars, jewelry and ceramics, use machinery to apply the paints or use scaffolding and raise ladders, fill holes and cracks with plaster and putty, and utilize simple math to calculate dimensions. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation. Students who complete the Painting, Pre-Apprentice training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and certifications in construction safety from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Welding Applications AAS and Level 2 Certificate consist of the same welding courses. The only difference between them is the AAS requires a small amount of additional academic coursework that the certificate does not require. Upon completion, students should possess the skills and knowledge for successful careers in welding. The welding portion of both awards prepares students to successfully apply technical knowledge and skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to join or cut metal surfaces. Students are able to choose from three different emphasis: Multiple Welding Process, Pipe Welding and Fitting, or Fabrication.

Job Corps’ Welding training program teaches students skills like joining metals using a variety of techniques and processes, understanding and following safety procedures including properly using safety equipment, and identifying and explaining the composition and classification of metals, and designing and building a fixture for assembling simple parts. These skills prepare students for a career working in a variety of jobs for manufacturing companies, construction companies, trade shops, shipbuilders or repair shops. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Welding training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

This is a two-year program where studentslearn that welding is required by a wide varietyof industries. Fusible materials and high heatare needed to manufacture, repair, or altertools and products. Students are taught to usemanual welding, cutting, and electrical arcwelding processes to fabricate and join metalparts according to diagrams, blueprints,and specifications. Students will fine-tunetheir craft and perform welds in variouspositions, using multiple welding processes.Professional welders are in high demand andcan have lucrative career opportunities withlocal manufacturers upon graduation.

It involves both theoretical and practical aspects of measuring. The mission of metrology is to provide accurate and reliable measurements for all types of industries, but it is especially important in precision engineering like submarine manufacturing, where products need to meet strict tolerances.We offer a caliber of education that you simply cannot get anywhere else, for less time and less money than other programs require. The curriculum builds a sturdy foundation that allows even the most novice student a platform to grow and flourish as they move from the basics of bench inspection to coordinating metrology machines. Not only is the curriculum mapped to credentials, but numerous industry survey results were also consulted to allow for the highest possibility of employment.

Provides basic instruction in the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process on steel plates and shapes. Topics include orientation, safety, measuring tools, material types, metal cutting and preparation, and SMAW procedures and practices. Workplace skills including math, communications, and business ethics are integrated into the curriculum. Students successfully completing this course will be prepare for entry-level positions.

This all-expense paid, 10-week accelerated training will provide you with 80-hours of training in preparation for the American Welding Society certification exam in select structural and pipe, to include: Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). Students will learn many different types of welding practices, shop safety and metal fabrication skills. Students will learn the skills needed to find employment after completion.AWS certifications will be held after the completion of 80 hours of training. Students can choose (with instructor guidance) which AWS certification they intend to complete.This training is intended for individuals who have some basic prior knowledge and skill in welding. Interested students will need to complete an interview and a basic skills test.

The road to becoming a welding Journeyman starts with apprenticeship training. Schoolcraft College accomplishes that mission by providing training, leadership, and partnership with local trade unions in order to uphold union values and the principles of service and professionalism. Coursework will prepare students for union apprenticeship by providing instruction in fundamental welding equipment and techniques, project planning, layout, fabrication, safety and technical math. Students completing the coursework successfully will also earn American Welding Society certification in at least one welding procedure. The pre-apprenticeship certificate will help ensure that students have the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to be safe on the jobsite, competitive in the workplace and satisfied in their careers. This certificate creates an option for entry into the welding fabrication certificate and the welding joining technology associate degree.
