This program prepares graduates for entry-level positions that involve the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems commonly found in automated manufacturing environments. This program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. Through this 10-hour course, participants can attend classes delivered by OSHA-authroized trainers and earn an OSHA 10-hour card for general industry. The classes will be held at Calhoun Community College in the Center for Business and Industry Training (CBIT) in Decatur, AL
The Occupational Safety and Health Technician Associate in Applied Science-T Degree program provides students with the foundation, knowledge, and skills to prevent accidents and health hazards to workers, the community, and the environment. The health and safety concepts covered in the curriculum are applicable to all industry sectors, including public agencies and private companies. This degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 99 credits as outlined.
This course is designed for the beginning welder who has limited or no welding experience. The emphasis is on basic practical welding of steel for home or farm use. Safety will be emphasized with supervised lab practice in gas welding, cutting, and arc welding. Various welding equipment and welding techniques will be surveyed. Welding equipment and consumables are included.
This program prepares welding graduates for testing and certification for local metal fabrication shops, maintenance welding and construction pipe welding.
This associate degree program will equip students to pursue career options ranging from electrical system technology, fiber optic installations, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), and field operation. Students will work with faculty that possess industrial experience, which is shared in the classroom. Several design projects are incorporated into every course to apply real-world as well as virtual software applications to knowledge acquired.
