Many people believe that all manufacturing has moved offshore, but Ohio's manufacturing industry is still alive and well. In fact, it remains one of Ohio's most important economic activities, and it offers excellent job opportunities for skilled machine operators, programmers and technicians. Computer Aided Machining (CAM) is an important part of the manufacturing process as it facilitates the control of automated machines to product parts. The Computer Aided Machining (CAM)/Manufacturing Processes Short-Term Certificate program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for entry-level employment in the manufacturing processes or computer numerical control (CNC) field. You'll get an excellent background in math and problem solving as well as real-world training with modern equipment. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Computer Aided Machining Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology -Computer Aided Machining.
The Advanced Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning certificate will prepare you to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service and maintain the operating condition of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The certificate curriculum covers diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment, and the principles of mechanics, electricity and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This 20-credit certificate can be completed in one year.
The Industrial Technology AAS degree prepares students for job advancement or to transfer to a four-year institution to obtain a bachelor’s degree in technology-dependent fields such as, automotive technology and service, building construction, electronics, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, electrical technology, automated systems maintenance and manufacturing, machine design, and welding to name a few. This program is designed to afford students with the flexibility to tailor their coursework to meet their individual occupational or transfer goals. Students may complete this program at the Harrisburg Campus through a combination of mixed modalities (e.g., on-campus/in-person instruction, hybrid, flex, remote instruction and/or virtual learning)
The Career Studies Certificate in CNC Flow Cell Machining is a specialized third-year advanced manufacturing program conducted in a high-precision CNC manufacturing cell.Admission Requirements: In addition to general college admission requirements, students must:Complete MAC 223 and MAC 127 (or equivalents) with a C or higher.Have completed a two-year precision machining program or have equivalent work experience, as evaluated by program instructors.Program Outcomes: Graduates will be able to:Act as high-performance team members and cultivate knowledge required of mid-level machinists or entry-level managers.Apply the concepts of Lean and Six Sigma.Gain an understanding of basic economic principles as they apply to industry and the impact of those principles to manufacturing.Work with a wide range of high-performance machine tools, including 5-axis mills, 3-axis lathes, CNC inner diameter and outer diameter surface grinders, and electrical discharge machining.Learn the ancillary processes associated with machining in a high-precision environment.
The Industrial Automation and Robotics program is designed to provide students with basic Machine Language programming skills, problem solving skills, and troubleshooting techniques used in various industrial and robotic technological fields.
Program DescriptionThis program provides the student with solid knowledge and skills in the area of applied engineering. Manufacturing Engineers create and implement the manufacturing build plan in order to take engineering designs from the drawing board to product delivery. The manufacturing build plan includes defining the requirements for facilities, equipment, special machinery, tooling, materials, manpower, and processes required to produce all of the detail parts and assemblies to make the final product. Manufacturing Engineering takes a leading role in the creation, maintenance, and improvement of the processes used in the production of every manufactured product in industry today. Among the subjects covered in this program are topics related to Aeronautical Engineering.

Successful completion of the Welding Technology Professional certificate provides you with the skills to qualify for entry-level employment as a non-code combination welder. Training includes all first-year MCC welding courses, including manufacturing repair and CAD.The professional certificate is also a building block for the Welding Technology A.A.S. degree. Completion of the certificate fulfills all credit requirements for the first year of the academic program and can be applied directly toward the degree.
The Associate of Occupational Studies in Welding Technology (AOSWT) degree consists of two academic years containing a total of 60 weeks and 60 semester credit hours. The first academic year of this program is the Professional Welder program (25 semester credit hours), which prepares a graduate for entry level positions in structural, pipe, and thin alloy and/or pipeline welding. The second academic year is directed toward course material for job entry as a Welding Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector (WQA/QCI) containing 35 semester credit hours. Each course shall be four days a week and will consist of three weeks.
This 24-credit program can be completed in two semesters. The program introduces students to the principles and techniques of basic oxyacetylene welding and cutting, basic shielded metal arc welding, and basic gas metal arc welding. Courses are geared to students enrolled in other programs such as diesel mechanics technology.
