This one-year on-line (30 week) Certificate provides students with the theory behind welding techniques. This program is designed to be used as the related technical theory for an apprenticeship program. This program is credit generating; therefore, Associates degrees of programs related to the discipline may be inclined to consider completion of these courses for transfer. Upon completion, students can continue to pursue a degree in TES.AAS.This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge of welding processes to fabricate, repair and maintain manufactured weldments, industrial machinery and equipment and motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery as a maintenance technician.
The Precision Manufacturing certificate program equips students with the necessary hands-on experience and foundational knowledge to qualify for entry-level positions as machine operators and quality control inspectors. In this program, students are taught both conventional machining techniques and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining techniques. The programs were developed in response to Connecticut manufacturers’ needs for a highly skilled workforce to match the needs of the regional industry sector partnerships around the state of Connecticut. The student who completes the Precision Manufacturing certificate program has a choice to pursue employment or to matriculate in an associate degree program.
This certificate is designed for students with little or no drafting experience who want to work with land development drawings. The certificate includes an introduction to land surveying and GIS software.
The Automated Systems Technology - Mechatronics program is a field of study that focuses on the integration of mechanical, electrical (electronics), fluid power (hydraulics or pneumatics), and computer technologies to control machine movements. The new term for this is “Mechatronics.” The students’ studies begin with courses in mechanics, sensors, basic electronics, pneumatics, control logic and robot programming and control. The student goes on to learn how to program a specific Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and then writes and troubleshoots programs to control different types of industrial machines. Students will learn soldering skills, schematic diagram reading, advanced programming of PLCs, Robots, and Network systems.
The Plumbing program is designed to prepare students to function as entry-level plumbers and plumbing assistants in residential and commercial environments.
This course provides students with a foundational understanding of CNC milling machine operation, focusing on G-code programming, basic work holding techniques, and the use of the Haas CNC control system. Students will gain hands-on experience in setting up and machining components using G-code, while developing the skills necessary to effectively operate a Haas CNC mill. A strong emphasis will also be placed on mechanical blueprint reading, which will support students’ success in understanding and executing precise machining tasks.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Advanced Manufacturing with a concentration in Industrial Maintenance/HVAC will prepare graduates for employment as entry-level HVAC technicians. Concepts covered in the concentration include fundamentals of electric and gas heating systems, refrigerant transition and recovery, commercial/industrial wiring, and NEC Codes.
Learn the skills for a career in CNC machining. This course is designed to have you working in just four months.Industry professionals provide hands-on training to program, setup and operate CNC lathe and CNC milling machines.Learn how to run production machinery and check that every part you make meets customer specifications.
With all classes offered online, this career studies certificate will help you become familiar with AutoCAD and Inventor software and includes advanced technical drafting, parametric solid modeling, engineering drawing fundamentals and more.
The Precision Machining Technology Certificate is a series of courses with a concentration in the skill sets required to be a machinist. The four course series is designed to follow the National Institute for Metalworking Skills Machinist Level I credential. Conventional and CNC mill and lathe concepts are covered. Students who successfully complete this certificate program should be successful in a manufacturing environment.
Job Corps’ Electrical, Pre-Apprentice training program teaches students the skills needed to work with electrical systems in homes, businesses and factories, including how to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in places of all sizes, read blueprints and diagrams and will need to follow state and local building regulations, and use various hand tools and power tools. This program specifically prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeship after graduation.
