This program provides graduates with a well-rounded education in basic manufacturing processes and progresses them through multiple manufacturing concepts to more advanced automation skills including industry 4.0 concepts. All students will experience a core curriculum focused on the foundational skills in manufacturing processes including precision measuring, blueprint reading quality control, and basic design concepts.
The Professional Welder prepares a graduate for entry-level positions in structural, pipe, and thin alloy and/or pipeline welding. Key welding processes include SMAW, MIG, TIG,High Frequency TIG, and Fluxcore. The program consists of six five-week courses for a totalof 30 weeks, 25 semester credit hours, and 750 contact hours of instruction. Many of allnew students elect the Professional Welder program because of its specialty courses andexpanded welding competencies. The Professional Welder graduate acquires many skillsand can branch off into various career and employment opportunities. Upon successfulcompletion of this program, students will receive a Diploma.
Job Corps’ Machining training program teaches students skills like crafting metal and other materials into machine parts, interpreting detailed drawings or files, such as blueprints, sketches, and those for computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), setting up, operating and disassembling manual, automatic and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, and monitoring the feed and speed of machines. These skills prepare students for a career working for or manufacturing companies, plants or small machine shops. Machinists craft metal and other materials into machine parts and may work with tools operated by computer systems. Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician, Advanced Machinist and other Advanced Training programs at Job Corps as a part of their career pathway. Students who complete Machining training at Job Corps can earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
If you're eager to join the workforce without committing to a full degree program, consider enrolling in this short-term program. It's designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required to kickstart your career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).The course is broken down into topics including HVAC operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential and light commercial heating/cooling systems. Throughout the program, you'll learn to utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to pinpoint issues and optimize system performance in line with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.
A well-rounded curriculum allows students hands-on experience in all the stages of the aircrafts life from design to production and repair. Coursework in the program includes CATIA, composite fabrication, composite repair and lean manufacturing.
Become a sought-after engineering technician. Become the engineering technician employers want with Virginia Peninsula's Technical Studies program.Created with help from business and industry representatives, the curriculum will equip you with the necessary skills to become a successful engineering technician.
Students learn to use advanced computer workstations with various CADD software applications. Students will receive instruction and practice in the planning, design, and preparation of high-quality technical drawings for a variety of projects. In addition to technical courses, there are supporting courses in communications, mathematics, and social sciences. These courses serve to broaden the student's general education background and thus better prepare students for employment and advancement in the career field.
Mechanical Engineering Technology gives you the skills and knowledge to do just that. Program graduates take engineers' innovative ideas and transform them into products. Mechanical engineering technicians take a concept from theory to reality by using the latest software in industry to create the technical drawings used in the production process.
This pathway is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in computer engineering. Requirements vary among institutions. The following program is a composite of the requirements of the first two years of the baccalaureate degree at most four-year institutions. Students should have successfully completed a minimum of four units of high school mathematics, including trigonometry, and three units of science in biology, physics and chemistry.
Acquire all the skills offered during Digital design training at CCAT's Digital Thread Lab. On route to this credential you will complete Design training focused on CAD for MBD, CAD quality and validation, digital costing, and product lifecycle management. Program Outcomes: 1. Develop an awareness of the digital thread (DT), model-based engineering (MBE) and model-based definition (MBD). 2. Become familiar with technical data packages (TDP), the common file types, and the role, use and definition of derivative files.3. View and organize product and manufacturing information (PMI) on a 3D model.4. Apply dimensions, notes and geomtric dimensioning and tolerancing schemes to models. 5. Identify quality defects in a 3D CAD model that would negatively impact downstream model reuse.6.Generate, view and interpret CAD quality tests using advanced software viewers.7. Generate estimates of part manufacturing costs automatically with model-based definition in CAD software.8. Use PLM collaboration tools to share files and manage MBD data, Technical Data Packages, 3D Work Instructions.
Welding is a process that unites multiple pieces of metal or thermoplastic materials by skillfully melting and fusing them together using energy sources ranging from gas flames and electric arcs to precise lasers and powerful electron beams. This process plays an integral role in submarine manufacturing.Do you like working with your hands and making things? If you have good hand-eye coordination, are in good physical health, and have good technical aptitude, this may be a great career for you. Our program is designed for participants with little to no previous welding experience. While at ATDM, you will have the opportunity to learn multiple weld processes and positions, blueprint reading and interpretation, and welding safety. You will also have the chance to put those skills to the test as you earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society (AWS).
