Learn areas of comfort cooling including basic air conditioning and heating theory; heating fundamentals and appliances; requirements and controls; circuits, thermostats; schematics, and communications. Includes hands-on instruction in brazing copper piping and fittings. Designed as the first of a two-course program.
Drafters prepare drawings based on sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers, architects, and designers. These final drawings will contain detailed views of an object, specifications for materials, and other information required to fully carry out the job. Students in this program use industry specific software to perform lab exercises such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Solid Edge, and ArcGIS. Students also have the opportunity to prototype parts with laser cutters and large format printers. The Engineering and Design program is designed for the professional development of individuals who desire to prepare themselves for employment in fields such as architecture and engineering. Students are required to participate in third party credentialing activities such as NOCTI as part of this curriculum.
This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric apparatus and systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electric-power wiring; and DC and AC motors, controls, and electrical distribution panels. The Industrial Maintenance/Millwright Technology program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of industrial maintenance and/or millwright positions. This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
The Welding Specialist with Pipefitting program, available at the Houston and JacksonvilleCampuses only, prepares a graduate for entry-level positions in structural, pipe and pipeline, and thin alloy welding, as well as for entry-level positions in pipefitting and steam fitting. Inaddition to the key welding processes learned in the Welding Specialist program, studentsalso learn basic and advanced pipefitting skills.Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate will receive a diploma and shouldpossess the skills and knowledge to test for welder certification through the AmericanWelding Society (AWS). Graduates should also be able to successfully perform essential tasksexpected from a certified welder, with minimal supervision.
This is an entry level certificate that all Applied Engineering students will proceed through prior to pursuing specific focus areas. This program will give the student a broad overview and introduction to the technologies and processes in manufacturing. Studies include, robotics, fluid power, industrial electricity and controls, welding theory, CNC (computer numerical control) theory, CAD (Computer Aided Design) and Rapid Prototyping (maker spaces). Students will learn safety, math and material science while learning about the manufacturing technologies in this program
ATI’s Maritime Welding Technology Diploma equips students for entry-level roles in structural and pipe welding. Over 15 months, students gain practical experience welding on multiple gauges of steel and aluminum, learning five welding processes and three cutting techniques. The program emphasizes hands-on training in a realistic shop environment, where students interpret blueprints, apply safety protocols, and earn American Welding Society (AWS) certifications—including up to the 6G pipe position—through on-site testing
