Standard Welding (180 hours) is designed to improve the welder's skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding in all four positions on carbon steel plates.
The purpose of the Welding Technology program is to provide accessible, quality educational opportunities that will provide individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry-level employment in the welding profession. The diploma and certificates programs are intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as entry-level structural and / or pipe welders. Program graduates are to be competent in the academic areas of communications, mathematics, computer literacy, and human relations and in the technical areas of cutting processes, blueprint reading, SMAW and GMAW structural welding and SMAW and GTAW pipe welding to AWS standards.Reid State Technical College will accomplish program objectives by providing students with a comprehensive general education and technical training in the core area of Welding Technology.
Mechanical Design Technology is an exciting program that can be taken as a standalone degree program or be connected to our 2+2 MET program with UNH Manchester.Study at NCC where our professors are professionals in industry during the day and dedicated instructors in your evening classroom.
This program is designed to provide the student with skills and knowledge relevant for preparation and advancement within entry-level positions of employment as production workers, operators, helper trainees, or helpers in varied fields of employment in industry. The program is structured to also afford a currently employed student/worker (as well as employers) with a means for developing an opportunity to explore new job responsibilities, as well as to enhance current job skills and knowledge within a company. This effort will be designed to provide an opportunity for the individual to be better prepared to avail themselves of career advancement opportunities as they are encountered. The program provides for a formalized integration of collegiate level course work and at the same time, compliments this education with formalized College Sponsored Experienced Learning (CSEL) “on-the-job” (OJT) learning/training. Experiential learning will consist of a formally structured training plan, having been developed with a respective employer and, an appropriately identified college advisor, as well as the student.
Electro-Mechanical Technology (or mechatronics) is one of the most in-demand and highly sought-after careers in the manufacturing industry. The combination of electrical and mechanical skills based in computer-aided drafting, and machine technology create a unique blend of knowledge desirable to industry. These technicians are trained in a variety of skill areas, allowing companies to utilize their knowledge for a vast array of technical and mechanical issues. When everyday issues arise that could cost a company revenue when they occur, having a multi-skilled technician on staff that can address issues immediately allows companies to continue production at a minimal loss. Electro-mechanical technicians have become essential positions in the manufacturing industry.
The Additive Manufacturing Design Technology (AMDT) degree path will augment students' learning by coupling theory-based instruction with hands-on applications using current software. The AMDT path software includes, but is not limited to, SOLIDWORKS, Insight, Materialise, NetFabb, Generative Design, Geomagic Design X, GOM inspect, and AutoCad. The student will practice 3D printing techniques with hands-on a large polymer and Metal AM system. AMDT students will obtain the skills by taking classes in innovation design, formal engineering design process, advanced critical thinking, project management GD & T option, reverse engineering, 3D modeling, printing and scanning, and converting point cloud data to solids and inspections. Additive Manufacturing Design Technology will undoubtedly revolutionize manufacturing and usher in a new wave of innovation.
The Welding Operator One-Year Certificate program is designed to provide you with the specialized knowledge and skills to be prepared for entry-level employment as a welding technician. As a welding technician, you'll inspect welded joints to ensure company standards, national code requirements and customer job specifications are met. You'll also assist welding engineering personnel in development and application of new and improved welding equipment, welding techniques, procedures and practices, and specifications for heat treating. An emphasis is placed on computer-aided manufacturing and automated welding systems. In addition, you'll learn about new techniques that are being developed to weld dissimilar materials and non-metallic materials such as plastics and composites including laser beam and electron beam welding, new fluxes and other technologically advanced processes. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
This certificate provides the training necessary to prepare students for positions as automation technicians, mechatronics technicians or robotics technicians in an advanced manufacturing environment.
The General Technology major allows students to select course work necessary to become multi-skilled technicians. In addition to completing the college's core curriculum, students also complete course work in at least two technical areas. The following is an example of a career path available. The secondary paths may be substituted for courses in other programs' primary path. Interested students should talk with their advisors. This program prepares students for a broad range of employment within the industrial maintenance field. The program is designed to develop multi- skilled technicians who install, maintain and repair commercial or industrial machinery in buildings, process plants or manufacturing settings. The mechanical primary path provides a solid foundation in drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, piping systems, and machinery preventive and predictive maintenance. As part of the associate degree program students choose a secondary path in a technical field of study. Students can choose air conditioning and refrigeration, welding, industrial electrical and automation controls or machine tool technology. See your advisor for more information.
